HWBOT Forums going down for migration to InvisionPB - done
We will be migrating the forums to invision power board today. As all content will be migrated too, we expect this progress to take a whole day. Commenting on submissions and news will not be possible as it is integrated with the forum. Edit: come say hi in our new forums!
Forum migration is done, but hwbot engine integration with the invision pb api is a bit wonky. We are keeping an eye on it.
Sadly I had to remove the content of the "news" section as this one hackers had infested with the crypto mining javascript, so comments on news is lost. All other content migrated just fine.
Is this (https://community.hwbot.org/index.php?/discover/) showing posts on people's user walls? Just seems a bit odd idk.
Yeah that's weird. Invision PB sees this as "status updates" like twitter or facebook. I don't find an immediate option on how to turn it of from the feed. It's not like a PM but it's not really ment to show to everyone either.
Other than that invision pb is nice though.
Maybe needs some addional smilies. Or giphy integration.

can you get us a new posts button on the main page of the forum, that is my bread and butter

You can use the link I posted above for everything or top right on the main page there is an unread content button.
Is "edit" function disabled on the migrated content? I want to update my for sale thread.

I think there is a time limit, let me check.
Check the "activity" tab on top. I think there were other ways too, but this one works well.
Is there any plan to bring in the chat box that was in the community.hwbot beta?
Can we get some links in the Results Discussions too, so you can go to the Submission?
1) We need a button on the top bar , that will link to hwbot.org
2) Where is the Team Captain section ?

I'd assume that automatic redirects from the old forums threads to the equivalent community threads are in the works? There would be a lot of broken links scattered around the web otherwise.

It appears the "edit" function times out after 5mins. Have you been able to find / fix this yet? Should be no time limit on editing IMO. Thanks
I prefer a single click if possible, I'd assume this is the most used feature. Idk why all new face lifted forums doing away with it.
Seems to look nice but not work as well as what it's replacing. Maybe it's just me.
Maybe it is just me, but when I try to click on links in posts like at marketplace on Marcs thread, I get to another tab of the same thread, despite adresses showing seemingly correct links...

How big is inbox supposed to be? On old forum my inbox was no where near full, now when I go to send a PM it says that inbox is full. Perhaps you could add something to show what percentage of inbox is filled like the old forum had?

I made it unlimited.
When I comment a score at hwbot.org, the result discussion is redirected wrong. It should appear at result discussions but at the moment is redirected to general hardware discussion. And we need at least a button on top that links to hwbot.org. Thanks

Definitely a great improvement over the old platform. This one is no longer blocked at work for being malicious

How about a direct link to a result on the "result discussions" which used to be at the top of each thread.
Unfortunately that was part of the heavy customization what kept us from migrating easily to newer vbb/ipb forum...
Is there any plan to attempt to reimplement this feature later, once more pressing/easier things are fixed?
Yes, invision powerboard supports custom plugins and it was a handy feature. It's just not high on the todo list.
Do other users have problem with text written in non-english language ?
I see old forum posts not appearing correctly and forum pm's also.

I haven't seen a problem yet but I can imagine this did not migrate well.
For example , look how the Japanese characters show up in the thread below
... and i can send you a pm , to see how the Greek characters of older pm's look like.
Yes that is unfortunate, but i did not expect the migration to go completely flawless.
What would be good is that we could set the follow preferences once - instead of everytime you click to follow a thread.
Would sure be nice to get a dark theme back on the forums. This new one is retina scorching.
