Issues starting to get accumulate just 4 months in.
Alright so I got this motherboard (ASUS ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING) in late september along side an i7-7820x to use for work and it was great at first but it is now 4 months later and my rear audio port is dead, my ethernet port works at a greatly reduced speed. I invested in this hoping it would last for a few years but these issues are starting to accumulate. I contacted asus support to see if I can get help for this and I would have to send it in which is normal of course but they would charge me to send me a new motherboard until they get the faulty one back. Also understandable but I think I should only get charged if they don't receive the faulty motherboard within a certain period of time, and not in advanced. I think for now my best bet would be to get a sound card because at this time I can't really dish out the cash to pay them for the motherboard again I just hate that this motherboard is starting to have more and more issues as time passes. I would suggest going with another manufacturer.

Board works fine. Decided to get this one despite the negative reviews with a specific BIOS version. Never had any major issues and there is a nice status display for the board that gives you an error number if there is a problem during startup. This helped save a bunch of troubleshooting time when I built my PC because one of my components wasn't plugged in completely. I did upgrade the BIOS a months or so after I got the board because I was having some weirdness being able to update windows 10 which has not been a problem since.

This is a beast motherboard. It has everything you need to run a high speed index. The one thing I was a bit disappointed on, it only has one legacy USB 2.0 connector on the motherboard. So, you either plug in your USB connector to your water cooling pump head or your front panel header. But not both. I'm sure there's a work around, but just not that interested in USB 2.0 on my front header too worry about it.

I want to start by saying that I have owned dozens of ASUS products over the years and have never had such a bad experience as I did with this motherboard.
First, x299 chipset is super new and drivers are very unstable and constantly updating. Asus's website makes downloading the most current drivers a tedious and cumbersome process. I installed a dual m.2 raid with 2 960 Evo's in Raid 0. Finding the driver to do this install with windows was a hours long search as Asus does not provide or has really hidden the driver I had to source it out from Intel directly. After finding the driver and installing windows, I was unable to install any chipset drivers until windows was fully upgraded post anniversary as my purchased copy of windows was pre-anniversary. I was even unable to see other attached SATA drives due to the complete incompatibility of x299 chipset drivers with pre anniversary windows 10.
This includes no working internet drivers wifi and Lan drivers would not work. I installed a 3rd party wifi adapter and updated windows. Asus website listed a highly recommended bios update. Installing the updated bios destroyed the RAID as it made major changes to the m.2 onboard. I then had to completely repeat the process. Slightly faster since I knew what to do.

Since installing again, I have had numerous system lockups, a complete freeze of windows while copying files. The file copy process completely freezes and windows is totally frozen. Apparently, the Raid is not stable. I independently verified that the Samsung 960s where 100% stable in another system, so this is an ASUS issue.

I am not working with Amazon to return this motherboard for a different Manf. Asus seems to have rushed production and I am now burned from buying another ASUS product for some time.

NOTE: I'm a software developer and use my computer many hours every day.

Aside from some initial quirks getting it setup and the proper drivers installed, my Asus X299 Mark I board has been very stable. It wasn't a totally smooth process getting there but building a new computer on a new platform never is, but I am now quite happy because it is fast and quiet, and, most importantly, it has been very stable. It's a big improvement over my old one when compiling using parallel compilation.

On the downside, I did have those initial 'quirks' and some of the manual could have been more detailed and clearer on certain topics. Minus 1 star for these issues.

NOTE: I'm using this motherboard with an Intel 7820X CPU and Noctua 14cm U-series Single Tower CPU Cooler, Brown (NH-U14S). I tried my hand at some minor overclocking but I didn't like the temps when conservatively overclocking to 4.4GHz (plus I encountered some stability issues). Maybe I would have better temps with a water cooler but I just did not want to deal with one.

The good news is that the CPU's Turbo Boost 2.0 and 3.0 are rather aggressive and help make up for (so far) bad luck with overclocking with boosts up to 4.5 GHz (but not on all cores).

UPDATE 2017-09-24: I updated the BIOS to 0802. The BIOS update through the Internet using the tool in the BIOS FAILED (it couldn't contact the server or something). I went back into Windows and downloaded the update to a local drive and tried again but the tool said it couldn't read the file. I went back into Windows again and downloaded the BIOS again and put the BIOS in a folder (instead of directly in the drive root) and that time it worked.... so the BIOS tool needs some work there. Maybe the 0802 update fixed some of these issues so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and keep my 4 star rating.

This was in our video editing computer we built 2 months ago, and decided to start throwing errors - never booting up windows. We replaced everything we could, including booting without a sata drive connected and it still gave the same errors for overheating - even when cold. If it's for a game pc then the price is great and could be worth it, if you NEED your computer to work, spend a bit more! A week without a computer costs more than a nice MB.

I added a $12 PCIe NIC and I'm getting full speed now. Aside form the NIC issue the board has been great, but silly that such a common part can be defective for so many people.

Well thought out with a ton of fan headers to power the air flow units. It even has headers for the liquid cooled rigs. Instruction manual is easy to follow and the CPU mount is very robust. This motherboard is rather future proof as it will allow for plenty of upgrades to keep it relevant for a long time.

      - Solo trae 1 solo puerto USB 2.0 interno.
