I'm really looking forward to this comp. I bought two 5770s already and look forward to learning from all the pros that are going to kick my ass. Last year this event was by far the most fun I had. Reminder to self: Make sure you bench with a 4k monitor so there are no screenshot issues.

I just noticed something now which isn't down in the rules but I feel like it should be, can we limit the competition to 1 card only? Just feel like a quadfire setup in this competition kinda goes against the whole ethos of it :)

February 29, 2020 at 6:29:08 AM UTC

Just so you know I didn't mean to suggest I would be using Crossfire (and pretty sure that's not allowed) but rather I purchased an extra one in case I blow the first one up modding it.

Oh no no don't worry, I just had that light bulb moment when I looked at the rules and saw it wasn't noted. :)

Just got a heads up from Thermal Grizzly that they will offer some prize money for top 3 in both Cheapaz rounds!!!!

1st spot: $200 USD
2nd spot: $100 USD
3rd spot: $50 USD

I have the hardware for both Cheapaz, was waiting for this. But i dont do LN2 so i am out of both. Maybe better luck next time. Nice background yes ;)

More stuff is in the pipeline, but first things first:  the paperwork needs to be completed before anything will get changed here.

This prize money is offered by the kind people Thermal Grizzly.

Just try to be the best of your cooling category.... if everybody would only bench if they were sure to win it would only be the same 3 people benching and grabbing a prize right.... it's all about having fun & sharing things...

Its not about being sure to win at all, i am pretty sure i would not stand a chance even with a temperature limit. there is some people who know perfectly there craft here,  and i am not one of them ? Its just that with this name i was expecting a Competition made around the idea of accessibility. (And its the first time i had adequat hardware to do more than just participate to one of them). In the end its my fault for not knowing what Cheapaz was about  ;) That being said it would be great to also have some competitions enticing for the whole HWBot community.

Anyway, i have posted some score for everything. But there is still an issue i had already pointed out : I cant launch Firestrike with both the latest systeminfo and hardware monitoring activated. So i have posted a firestrike graphic score with Hardware Monitoring desactivated but i dont know what is the regulation here.

[edit:]Oh, and while I'm at it. Would it be possible to ad my APU motherboard to the database ? (Gigabyte B450M S2H) it seem i am the only one using this thing here (work great!)

Look at the challenger divisions. Those are hardware/temperature/frequency limited depending on the division. Everyone can find one to be competitive in :)

Huge THANKS to Thermal Grizzly for putting up prize money!!

I know I'm limited by my card(s). I have 2 MSI Hawk's and they have a large/tall capacitor above the GPU. It's right above the memory and kills any chance of Dice or Water Cooling :( I have a set of EKWB Thero's and a Quad set of Watercool GPU-X that will not fit ? . I have just ordered a EKWB generic GPU cooler hoping it will fit in the space.

Anybody else know of different water blocks that might work ??

Is Systeminfo Monitoring required to have enabled while running 3DM Firestrike? Cannot get past systeminfo scanner stopped working error in every OS if monitoring in 3DM is enabled.

Did you try using older version of system info? I have ran into issues with the newest versions not always cooperating with legacy gpus.

Post which version worked for you on 3d11 and FS, maybe we can get an update to the rules if 5.26 is causing issues.

March 3, 2020 at 2:37:04 PM UTC

Other 2 users seem to have no problems with Firestrike with 5.26 systeminfo running, hardware monitoring can be turned off...

Anyway the general rules were updated a while ago with 5.26 systeminfo only for all of the FM benchmarks, will add it to the compo rules (my bad)

We can lower to 5.25 but I need more input than just a stand alone case, cbjaust and Nwalm seem to be okay with 5.26

March 3, 2020 at 5:33:16 PM UTC

3DM11 works fine with latest 5.26 systeminfo. But Firestrike is causing issues -Nwalm also had monitoring disabled (which solves the error) second workaround is to use win 10 and wait for firestrike to load which takes 30+ minutes with Monitoring enabled(monitoring disabled loads normally and works). Win 7, 8, 8.1 and WS12 crash on error mentioned before(during systeminfo scan).

might be good to make something like an "honorable mention" for best air/water/above zero user in each competion that include extreme cooling, so that everyone could have a goal ?

Took out the HD5770 1GB from an old MacPro, repasted it, but I'm having issues booting with it in my rig, anyone knows if it's related to it not being in the MacPro (know Apple pulled a few stunts like that tin the past). I really would like to join in on the fun. (first challenge I would get in)

Here on Win7 the firestrike loading is very very slow, not 30 minutes but 5-10 minutes for sure without disabling monitoring, but I don't know why the FM link says "Hardware monitoring was disabled. Results without hardware monitoring data are not eligible for the 3DMark Hall of Fame." https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/44618679

I didn't try win10

March 12, 2020 at 11:56:31 AM UTC

I think that's because the Hardware Monitoring part of SytemInfo crashes silently at the loading screen before the benchmark runs. Thus the result has hardware monitoring disabled even though it's selected in the options to be on.

Where the rule says the latest 3DMark11 is required, it means version 1.0.179.0 right?

image.thumb.png.256c16135cbf4d37df69ab678fe1eda1.png

March 27, 2020 at 9:56:38 PM UTC

there's a small hickup on some setups with the latest 3dmark releases and Win7, so we are a bit leanient, but systeminfo 5.26 is a must

March 27, 2020 at 10:05:03 PM UTC

I haven't seen complaints regarding 3DM11 and systeminfo, now it looks like I need to check how the not latest version of 3DM11 scores ?

March 28, 2020 at 8:39:16 AM UTC

3dm11 V1.0.179 don't work with my win7. I use V1.0.132 with systeminfo 5.26.

March 28, 2020 at 11:30:43 AM UTC

problem solved

you have to install first the 132 version and then the 179 and it works.

March 28, 2020 at 3:26:12 PM UTC

Same troubles for win10, 3D mark and sysinfo. When removing sysinfo it fires up right away..

But the sysinfo version doesn't really wants to play.

Didn't had this when running on ambient. But the first test run on ln2 gives me lots of grief.

Any suggestions ?

April 8, 2020 at 6:39:05 PM UTC

I too i'm having the same errors / problems with the latest system info 5.26 , just tested on my 5770  , also the problem do exist for other video cards too , latest system info 5.26 is 4+ months old now , FM/UL needs to get this sorted and fix asap as we paid for their software. Link to my thread of other video cards having the same exact problem with the latest system info 5.26 -

April 8, 2020 at 7:33:23 PM UTC

K I forwarded this to our FL/UL contact Pasi. Like stated in Angelo's thread, other user pls chime in and provide more info than it just won't run.

We need to know what you have tried to fix it. Which setup you are running, OS, drivers,...

April 9, 2020 at 1:19:33 PM UTC

Did this just yesterday:  OS  Win 7 Pro 64 SP1.  Driver AMD 15.200.1062.1004.

No difficulty with the latest 3dm11 and SysInfo 5.26 combination -- benchmark ran and produced submissions.

With 3dMark, specifically FireStrike, latest version and SysInfo 5.26.   I get the message "System Info has stopped working" -- reason APPCRASH -- after it scans long enough that it usually finishes.  3dMark hangs waiting for SysInfo.  Three SysInfo processes are left open in Task Manager: Helper, Scan and EasySysInfo.  Closing 3dMark and trying again gives the same message, hang and 3 more processes open.  Unless they are ended in Task Manager, these open processes build up with each retry.  Terminating the built-up processes does not change performance.

When I turn off SysInfo, the benchmark runs.  When SysInfo is enabled to scan, but NOT monitoring, the benchmark runs.  The hang etc, happen when SysInfo is set to Monitor hardware.  My guess from this and the timing of the "stopped working" message is that SysInfo has trouble in Win 7 with the transition from scanning to monitoring.

April 9, 2020 at 5:27:53 PM UTC

Guys having problems with latest system info please submit a ticket to futuremark support as they are trying to solve the problems but they need your help in order to fix this. I have been in constant contact with a futuremark contact customer support agent since yesterday troubleshooting this same exact problems everyone is having. We have already found some stuff pointing at GPU-Z Info module and CPUZ info module hanging during the system info scan process and they are working on a new system info to be released soon with a lot of fixes. But if you do not let futuremark knows about this problem with the latest system info and your configuration it is immposible to solve. They need your help with the troubleshooting and need you to submit some information and files in order to determine exactly where the problem is and then and then only they will be able to fix it. Please submit a futuremark/UL support ticket here and give them the most information you can - https://support.benchmarks.ul.com/en/support/tickets/new

They are actively right now working on a fix and soon a new system info will be released  but if you do not submit your problem to futuremark / UL there will never be a fix for it. Please help yourself , the community and Futuremark/UL to get a fix on your problem and then the fix will be included on the next release of system info. Thank you.

April 9, 2020 at 8:06:43 PM UTC

On windows 10 there is no insta crash like in windows 7 , ( windows 7 have insta crash always with latest systeminfo ) i have been testing this for a long time along side help from Jarno Kokko Futuremark/UL Support lead . The problem on windows 10 is a hanging module of the systeminfo , cpuz-info module and or gpu-z info module hence the initial systeminfo scan takes a very long time ( hanging module ) and when the benchmark is done and finish you will get a score BUT with an error saying hardware info was disable even thought it was enable , it's a bug on system info monitoring. The only way to get a score is to disable system info monitoring in 3DMark and or use older system info version 5.20. As per Jarno i was told to use older system info while they find the bug and squash it. I'm still waiting for more information from Jarno as i sent him some logs of firestrike and timespy runs using a new unreleased systeminfo 5.27 sent to me by futuremark/UL for testing purposes.

Please people keep sending information and submit tickets to futuremark / UL that will help them a lot.

Here are some of the older systeminfo download links sent to me by Jarno:

https://benchmarks.ul.com/downloads/Futuremark_SystemInfo_v525_installer.msi

https://benchmarks.ul.com/downloads/Futuremark_SystemInfo_v524_installer.msi

https://benchmarks.ul.com/downloads/Futuremark_SystemInfo_v523_installer.msi

https://benchmarks.ul.com/downloads/Futuremark_SystemInfo_v522_installer.msi

https://benchmarks.ul.com/downloads/Futuremark_SystemInfo_v521_installer.msi

https://benchmarks.ul.com/downloads/Futuremark_SystemInfo_v520_installer.msi

Jarno Kokko support Lead at Futuremark / UL said -

" That is normal. Without GPU-Z data, no way to validate a score.

We're looking into this. Since latest standalone GPU-Z does work, it is likely that next SystemInfo update could help. It is currently in testing and should appear in a week or two. Until then I have no workarounds other than "try older versions of SystemInfo"

Those can be downloaded using the direct links. Just edit the URL for different versions "

Is this also with Systeminfo  5.20?

April 25, 2020 at 4:10:35 AM UTC

@MaddMutt, did you have SystemInfo scanning enabled? Sometimes the hardware monitoring crashes but the SystemInfo scan still works. At least you'll be getting the hardware recognised. Also that score would be inadmissible because of a time measurement error. Reboot rerun.

April 29, 2020 at 6:40:15 PM UTC

TS with sys-info 5.20 is working fine with win 10 for me. Is full run (all tests) needed for 3dmark 11 or just gpu?

just GPU tests will be fine for 3D11and FS
