UPDATE: The malicious links have been adressed by the CPUID Team


Here's their official statement from Videocardz.com





A REDDIT user wanted to update his old version of HWMonitor with the latest 1.63. When downloading the 1.63 executable from the official CPUID website his Microsoft Defender detected a Virus.


Uploading the compromised file to a Virus checking website gave the below result




UPDATE: Users are also running into trouble with CPU-Z v2.19,





In the world of AI and daily hard to distinguish Tue or Fake news it's better to recommend to wait before updating your CPUID HWMonitor software, till there is an official statement from their development team.
