Only one channel works on this motherboard. Code cc when memory is in slot one. Will try again with different board and better paste.
Mythical tech sagt:
If anyone knows how to fix this ram issue I am all ears.
bigblock990 sagt:
CC means dead slot, or dead ram stick. Seems you have determined its the inside slot and not a ram stick. You can use CRC QD electronics cleaner (or similar) and do a thorough cleaning of the cpu socket, and the dimm slots. Make sure to dry completely afterwords. If that doesn't fix it, then time for a new mobo.

I have tried the slot with 10 known good sticks and two different cpus and nothing. So I think it is dead. It was a free mobo so I am not too concerned but it is a shame.

Similar thing happened to my first M9A, contact spray in socket solved the problem temporarily but after a while left DIMM slot was gone all the time and had to RMA.
Mythical tech sagt:
@aerotracksWhat did you use for a spray? If I can even get a few hours out of it to run gpupi x265 and possibly gb3 I would be happy.
GtiJason sagt:
Any Electric's Contact Cleaner such as CRC, WD-40 Specialist or Caig DeoxIT D5. This is a common issue with M9A's, first time I took my board cold this started happening almost immediately. All you can do is make sure the socket is very clean, 100% dry and ram stick is seated right

Didn't you read my post? I told you exactly what to buy

@bigblock990sorry I replied through email and didn't see it due to only seeing the first half of the post. I received this motherboard from a retired overclocker and it didn't appear to have any insulation on it but I know for sure that it was run cold so maybe something shorted. He has a lot of dead m9 apexs (as you can see in the for sale thread of dead mobos) thank you bigblock and aero for the suggestion I will try that. Do you know if the x apex has this problem before I pick one up?
ozzieRIP sagt:
something to try but try at your own risk, ( just a suggestion, seems youve nothing to lose) i had a dead ram slot in an intel p45 dfi board, all the pins seemed good in the socket, (sprayed them too) then blew out with air gently, i used 1200 wet and dry paper in the ram slots back and forth lightly, a snug fit in the slot, not too tight, sprayed with electrical spray contact cleaner and blew it out with air, sprayed again and blew out again, the slot came to life, not saying for 1 min this will work, but it worked for me, then i killed the board the next week ?
Mythical tech sagt:
I can't really do anything else with this mobo without the second ram slot and I will only ever use it with the 7350k so I am willing to try crazy things with it.

Have you tried with another CPU? I found some chips after i delid would refuse to work in Dual Channel in my Apex, other boards were fine. Could just be the chip.
