Here’s a quick reminder about the general scope of the VRMark Challenge, just in case you missed the memo. Running from January 28th to February 28th, the VRMark Challenge is a contest centered (as you may have guesses) on the VRMark Challenge benchmark from Futuremark. The two stages of the contest involve benching on the two integrated benchmarks, commonly known as the Orange Room and the Blue Room. The VRMark Orange Room benchmark is designed to asses if a PC meets the recommended hardware requirements for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR technologies. The Blue Room benchmark however differs, in that it uses a huge 5K rendering resolution coupled with spectacular volumetric lighting effects, making it in fact one of the most demanding 3D benchmarks on the market today.

The contest itself involves very little in the way of hardware restrictions. Overclockers can use any processor (or indeed any number of processors) with any single GPU. Right now there are 18 days left to compete. What’s stopping you? Get involved and you could win one of the prizes outlined above. The current leader on the VRMark leaderboard is jpmboy (US), followed by Menthol (US), with Rookie overclocker topyoyoguybest (also from the US) in third place. You can check out all the standings and scores on the VRMark Challenge contest page here on OC-ESPORTS.
