Madshrimps (Belgium) Win HWBOT Team Cup 2016

Just a few days have past since the conclusion of the HWBOT Team Cup 2016, the fourth edition of the ultimate team-based Overclocking contest. Hosted on OC-ESPORTS from July 1st until the end of September, this year’s Team Cup saw more participants than ever competing for the title of OC team of the year with an impressive 107 teams battling it out to become HWBOT Team Champions 2016.

This year’s winners are the Madshrimps Belgium OC Team who are wholly unrecognizable from the team that finished 26th in last year’s contest. In second place we have last year’s champions Warp9-systems (previously Classicplatforms.com). Third place goes to XtremeOverdrive OC team Italy followed by the Germans of Team Hardware-Reaktor-Reloaded, Overclockers.com and Overclock.net. Let’s have a more detailed look at the key players and submissions that helped make the HWBOT Team Cup 2016 such a big hit.

HWBOT Team Cup 2016 - The Ultimate Team Overclocking Contest

In terms of participation, the HWBOT Team Cup 2016 has exceeded previous years with 107 teams compared to last year’s 95 teams. Once again the contest involved teams of overclockers competing against each other across five sub-competitions that in total make up a massive 30 individual stages. Each of the five sub-competitions cover pretty much all aspects of modern and retro hardware overclocking and include CPU, GPU, Memory and Miscellaneous stages.

Of course HWBOT Team Cup 2016 was interesting, but I want to say about one thing - about little overclocking Teams. From this TC organizers added new feature - three results per team and dogpile contest. For big overclcloking teams it is easy to find three TOP systems like 2011-3 or Skylake, but our team have only one Skylake system for whole team. It applies to dogpile to. There are teams with hundred overclockers, with dozen and about 10-15. So it must be take account.

Not for nothing but, we had less than 10 benchers and won Dogpile and had all of the 3 sub cats filled. So it IS possible for small teams. ;)

I do generally agree with you though, big teams had a definite advantage.

This team cup was effectively won by a one-man team (Leeghoofd). If you want to top this next year, you'd have to drop the amount of active team members to zero :)
