Computex: Triplex shows off dual Radeon HD 6950 Para-Souls

Not posting this because of the technology, but much rather because of the extremely cool marketing name. Finally, a marketing team that can think beyond the mondaine 'green', 'eco', 'overclock', 'extreme' or 'crazy-overclock-massive-wr' and actually come up with an intruiging product name: Para-Souls!

(ps: no, not 'parasol')

It’s easy to forget some of the smaller graphics card makers, but walking around at a trade show like Computex you do realize that these companies are spending a lot of resources on trying to compete with the big guys. By a lucky coincidence we happened to walk past the Triplex booth which was hidden away on the far side of hall two and spotted a dual Radeon HD 6950 graphics card.

The card is called the Para-souls HD6950 dual and we’re not sure if this is an in-house Triplex design or not, but the bright blue dual fan cooler definitely makes the card stand out. Triplex is offering it with either 2GB or 4GB of 256-bit GDDR5 memory.

There’s no shortage of ports either, although Triplex has gone for a rather unusual layout for its card with a pair of DVI ports, an HDMI port and two full-size DisplayPort connectors. There’s of course a CrossFireX connector at the top of the PCB as well. The heatsink is definitely a custom design with two large aluminium heatsinks with a strange gap in the middle. We’re not sure if this card is really to our taste, but at least it’s something a bit unusual.
