Corsair Hydro H70 CPU Cooler Tested On Intel S775,S1156,S1366 and AMD

Extensive Hydro H70 testing!

We test Corsair’s latest all-in-one watercooling unit on 3 Intel platforms and one AMD system to find out how it stacks up to its predecessors as well as a Thermalright high end heatsink. How does it cope with different heat loads? We overclocked four systems to 4Ghz+ to find out.

nice writeup, nice touch with the words, get a powermeter...cheap ones are also ok :D, also ihs comparison...more pics :D

Its not bad, but I am confused....Because i have much better temps with Xigmatek 1283 DK + Ultra Kaze fun, temps about 58 |c i have with 1.5V not with 1.42V...

Thx for the kind words, was a bit puzzled it made it on Hwbot lol Each cpu is different Flanker, so are ambients, cases etc... Eg I've seen retail 875Ks do 4.2 on air, this ES sample got loads of issues even at 4ghz... all CPU's are ES, which might explain some of the temps and voltage requirements... With the same setups I have laods of issue son the CoolIT products... i970 reaches over 90°C on the cores :(

you can't compare CPU temps between different systems; there are way too many hardware and software variables involved to get comparable numbers; even if you build 2 exactly the same systems, with same CPU cooler, same motherboard type, same CPU type, same BIOS, same OS, same case fans etc etc... you still end up with different results; I've tested this with 3 identical systems I build from scratch, tested next to one another, re-applied thermal paste several times on each system, the outcome is different;

now imagine if you don't have control of case, case cooling and all other variables, let alone ROOM temp (which you fail to mention, I have 20°C CPU temp (outside at -30°C))...

temperature results best compared between same setup, and any difference <5°C is not worth the hassle for upgrade/change of CPU cooling gear;

Yeah, I know it's very confusing to see a computer cooling article in between all those nature-related scientific publications.

With nature related you mean there are pin ups soon on Hwbot ? a hardware pin-up of the month !! Winner of the compo get's her phone nr
