Attention: ONLY official CPU-Z version for screenshot verification
As most of you already know, there are different utilities on the market that give you the exact same information as CPU-Z, but are in fact different programs from the official CPU-Z version. For screenshot verification, we insist on using the official CPU-Z only. If you want to add programs such as the Evga E-LEET Utility in your screenshot, you can do so as long as there’s an official CPU-Z present.
Also, we have found out that people are modifying CPU-Z to add their own or team name to the CPU-Z utility: again, you can use it as an extra, but do it next to the official CPU-Z version.

The staff is currently discussing applying the same rule to unofficial GPU-Z variants. Similar to the CPU-Z rule, the biggest problem is not knowing if a modified application is showing correct frequencies. Also, only using the official version keeps things as uniform as possible, making things much more transparent and clear for everyone.
Please let us know your opinion :)
Yea, I think it's a good idea. If the reputation of CPU-Z and GPu-Z is open for abuse, everyones verification is suddenly meaningless
totally agree ;)
Is this problem based on issues already happened about third party software which did not display correct infos, or it's a pro-active solution?
For old gpu we need powerstrip or rivatuner, gpuz doesn't work or doesn't reconize the card
Fully agree :)
Official only.
Official only here as well.
Old Hardware have problems with GPUz. What about the nasty ROG CPUz? Is this "official" enough for the rules?
Why not ?
it's the official one but with a different skin
Official CPU-Z is available here: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
If your favored tool with CPU-Z-engine is only available somewhere else, it's not official. If modified CPU-Z versions with team logos are not allowed, why should Hwbot allow the ROG-version?
This.
Maybe require an alternative such as Powerstrip or Everest plus device manager when GPU-Z doesn't work
And Official cpu-z only from cpuid site should be allowed, unless there is a competition and people are required to use one certain varied version just for that
yep true, I forgot to write Everest
That's not really official. It's in the same category like the E-Leet tool from Evga, i think.
Official version is the one you can download from cpuid.com
ok then everything is clear.
Agree with official cpuz and official gpuz and alternative tools for old vga (like rivatuner, powerstrip and everest).
Now I can report all submissions made with ROG-CPUZ and E-Leet tool :D
thats going to be hours of reporting :P
Official only
You can't get the 1.57.1 version from cpuid.com at the moment, is it legal to use that one ?No more ROG-gay CPU-z? yaaay!
+1
This is exactly what I mean :D

Official only ;)
officical only..
Rog CPUz created by cpuid. You also can download from cpuid as well.

Wow, people are pretty unanimous about this. I would've guessed at least some people would ask for the unofficial/skinned versions.
Why not? I was happy massman has a logo on CPUZ if cpuid really want to help you released special version on the cpuid official website.
Is eleet on the cpuid official website? But rog CPUZ.
??
I see nothing wrong with skinned versions produced by the cpuid official website.
The ROG version looks cool, that's what's important.
I don't bother, only the 1.57.1 gives me the real vCore on my B3 :p Skinned versions are official nothing to complain about, I don't see the point...
Wow, i thought that rule was already in place. Surely the ROG version is official its on the cpuid website.
you guys just don't like asus :P
Official only, obviously old cards that GPUz doesn't support need something else. If CPUID has the ROG version on their website and it's up to date I see no reason why it couldn't be used.
Not only looks cool, it helped me achieve a .3 higher bclock on my SB. (almost certain)
The ROG version may look dumb (IMO), but I see no reason why it shouldn't be allowed.
Massman, about the ROG CPU-Z: http://www.cpuid.com/news/40-rog_cpu_z.html
It is official, but I don't like it. The clean cpuz is so much easier to read...
There is ROG GPU-Z now ;)

OMFG. TaPaKaH has already updated his gay list in the signature :D And I fully agree with him.
I like it!
Is from official site xD
Keep your personal hate off from CPU-Z. The ROG version is made by CPU-Z and source code is not modified. That should be enough for everyone. Same story goes with the GPU-Z ROG version. I don't know why those versions irritate so many people and I do not see them any harder to read really.
I prefer the blan version, I find it easier to read myself.. that is my only reason. I find I have to focus my eyes to see the numbers... I tried it when it first came out, but I didn't use it long.
Vin
ROG CPUZ version is approved by CPUID => official version => allowed
Changing the interface has no effect on clocks. That's my thought. The ROG version is created and is approved from CPUID. I like it better than the classic interface :D
during still give the correct info about the clock That not big deal ... Changing the interface has no effect on clocks ... just skinned and We Can download from www.cpuid.com ROG CPU Z and GPU Z very cool....

just keep the offical Cpuz and GpuZ as mandatory in screenshots.
(also the rog version)
Bump. Just a reminder: the only allowed tools are the CPU-Z and GPU-Z versions that you can download from the developer's page, being http://cpuid.com/ and http://techpowerup.com. Nothing else :).
