Get Ready For HWBOT Revision 8

We have been working hard the past few months on the 8th HWBOT revision, dubbed 'classic', in order to launch it early 2019. It is a mix between nostalgia for the early HWBOT revisions, having a seasonal ranking next to the existing career ranking and enabling/disabling points for a lot of benchmarks voted on by the community.

Functional changes:

Benchmarks changes:

Benchmark and global points disabled for:

  • VRMark
  • Aquamark
  • Catzilla
  • PiFast
  • XTU

Hardware points disabled for:

  • Catzilla

Hardware points enabled for:

  • GPUPI v3.3 - 1B
  • GPUPI v3.3 - 32B
  • 3DMark - Time Spy Extreme
  • Geekbench3 - Single Core
  • Geekbench4 - Multi Core

New benchmarks may be added during the season by community vote.

Submission points (mostly as is):

  • Benchmark points algorithm remain as is
  • Global points remains as is, except you get points if your score is >50% of world record score (used to be top 75% in rev7)
  • Hardware points remains as is

Member points rankings:

  • Career Ranking: Sum top 30 submissions all time. Competitions have no impact.
  • Season Ranking: Sum top 30 submissions + top 10 competition entries made in current year.

Team points rankings:

As is team power points. As TPP includes 1/10th of the total points made by submissions linked to the team, there is a small impact from the global points change.

Country points rankings:

Sum of all seasonal member points (used to be sum of all submission points of all time).

Hardware / global masters rankings

As is, remains untouched.

Competitions:

Top 10 entries of current year count towards seasonal ranking, no more oc-esports.io/road to pro/challenger points. Focus shifts to competitions just for fun and team/country competitions, instead of the esports aspect.

Achievements:

Will be enabled again, but only achievements which have been developed and tested by the dev team. Currently we have many achievements made by non technical people which cause heavy load and are buggy, hence everything is disabled.

oc-esports.io

Rankings scrapped, only to be used for read only view of schedule and the competition/stage pages.

Technical changes:

Updated design, usable on phone

It's not a decent responsive design yet, but now it feels like it's made in 2014 instead of 2011.

Many under the hood improvements and library updates

While it will not be visible to most of you, we made HWBOT easier to maintain by upgrading the under the hood technology stack, and removing old/deprecated dependencies.

HTTPS enforced

We support https:// for a while now, but we do not force redirects to the https version. In the near future, we will redirect users to the https version. This might break old benchmarks using the http:// version of the API, but we need to make the hard switch sometime.
