HWBOT World Series for Amateurs Asia: Lantzeyin Beats Jimmy Lin in Final

Day 5 of the HWBOT World Tour 2016 event at Computex just came to a climax with the Semi-Finals and Final of the World Series for Amateurs taking place on the main stage here at the HWBOT booth. After a week of OC Workshops, we pitted the top four amateurs against each other to decide who would be crowned the Amateur OC Champion of Asia.

The HWBOT World Tour isn’t just about Elite and Extreme overclockers bashing out incredible benchmark scores using LN2, it’s also about bringing on the next generation of overclockers and reaching out to PC enthusiasts and gamers who might just enjoy learning the art of pushing PC performance.

For the Asia leg of the World Tour held in Taipei during the Computex 2016 trade show, HWBOT setup ten OC bench setups which included a Core i7 6950X processor with all-in-one ambient cooling. After being shown the ropes of overclocking from a seasoned pro, the amateurs were invited to submit a score in the World Series for Amateur contest on OC-SPORTS. The top four on the leaderboard after four days were then asked to participate in the Semi-Finals on Saturday afternoon. The four in finals were Lantezeyin, ds934118, Chia Hui Liao and Jimmy Lin.

The first Semi-Final saw Lantzeyin take on ds934118 in two short 15 minute sessions where the overclockers switch systems half way, just to ensure that nobody has an advantage in terms of CPU. At the end of the session Lantzeyin had a combined score of 5725 XTU points, with his opponent on 5701 points. Semi-Final 2 had Chia Hui Liao pitted against Jimmy Lin. After two 15 minute sessions, Jimmy had actually managed to hit the best XTU amateur score of the day, with a combined score of 5757 points, beating Chia Hui Liao with 5718.

The final used the same format with Lantzeyin taking on Jimmy Lin. After a very tight and entertaining 30 mins of action Lantzeyin managed to beat Jimmy Lin with a score of 5756, marginally ahead of Jimmy Lin who was unable to replicate his Semi-Final score, managing only 5751 points.

Winner Lanzeyin was awarded an Intel Core i7 6950X processor, a Seasonic 760W Platinim PSU plus a Streacom BC-1 bench table. Runner up Jimmy walked away with a Seasonic PSU and Streacom bench table, while third place finisher Chia Hui Liao awarded a Streacom bench table.

Well done to all who took part in the OC Workshops throughout the week, and especially to Lantzeyin who may just be one to watch in the future.
