Pro OC Cup 2014 Round 3

Season 2 of the Pro OC Cup is coming to its end with the third and final round launching September 1. OCUKPro is storming towards a major victory having won the first two rounds of this year. They are the big favorites for this round again. Team Pro OC EU and Kronos Pro OC will be competing for second place on the podium as they both finished second in one of the two rounds. In the second round we see NP2Korea Pro OC climbing up to third place.

And so we are preparing for the last and final round. From September 1 until November 30, the Pro OC superstars are taking on five new benchmarks with five different systems. Evidently the focus will be on the newest Intel X99 platform, released just a couple of days ago, and the upcoming GeForce GTX 980 provided it makes the hardware cut-off mark on October 15.

The Pros kicks off with Cinebench R15 8xCPU X99, a relatively simple 2D benchmark requiring them to push the new Core i7 5960X as high as possible. Next we move to the 3DMark11 Performance All Out, a big 3D stage with various challenges. Firstly the CPU frequency is needed for Game Tests, Physics and Combined test, and for the latter two you’ll also need a strong DDR4 memory sub-system. Next up is 1xGPU 3DMark Vantage.

The fourth round is another 3DMark for X99 platform, but this time 2xGPU instead of just a single GPU. The last stage is the always present odd one out featuring AMD CPU and fresh released Radeon R9 285 in 3DMark Fire Strike.

Good luck everyone!

The concept of the Pro OC Cup series remains unchanged. From September 1 until November 31 12:00 GMT+0 you can sign up for the Cup, create or swap teams, or simply opt-out. After October 1, the teams and players are locked down until the end of this round. To register, simply submit one score (per team) before October 1 12:00 GMT+0. Two weeks before the end of the competition, on November 15 12:00 GMT+0, the elimination takes place. This means that only the best 10 teams of the round will be allowed to continue the competition.

In the sidebar on the right hand side and on the Pro OC overview page you can find the current Pro OC standings, including the final points of Round 1 and 2 and the preliminary points of the third and last round. Once teams start submitting in the new round, the ranking will automatically update. Good luck everyone!

Just like any other Pro OC competition, the Pro OC 2014 Round 3 counts five stages:

Each Pro OC Team can consist up to five members. The members are linked to the Pro OC Team and will no longer be participating in any of the other user leagues, excluding the Hardware Masters, for the duration of the Pro OC Cup. The members are not obliged to submit any results, so joining a team can be merely to point out you are part of the team. For example, if someone takes up the role as Team Manager, he or she may be responsible for finding sponsors but may never submit a single result. Once the Cup finishes, all members are free to stay with the team, leave it, or join another one. As each competition starts from scratch, moving from one team to the other will not affect the team’s ranking.
