Pro OC Cup 2014 Round 2

Not so long ago we closed the curtains on the first round of the Pro OC Season 2. After a two-week battle between the best ten teams in Round 1 who could continue the competition after elimination we proclaim the winner OCUKPro from United Kingdom, a team formed by top overclockers 8 Pack and Hivizman.

And we’re getting ready for more! Sooner than in last season, the second round of the Pro OC season is kicking off. From May 15 until August 15, the Pro OC superstars are taking on five new benchmarks with five different systems. It needs no explanation that the winner of this round will take a big step forward to the Season 2 title.

The Pros start off with a full out 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme. That's right, the mighty massive 3D benching systems are back! The second stage follows the cheapaz stage of Round 1 but instead of competing with a low-end GPU, we will be competing with a low-end CPU. In a battle for the best SuperPI 32M, the teams are only allowed to use the Pentium-based processors. Hardware and software tweaking will most definitely be a must!

In the third stage we return to the high-end GPU benchmarking with 2x GPU 3DMark11 Performance. Will we see top clocks on the GeForce GTX 780 Ti or will the Radeon HD 290X make the difference? We continue with a round which will most definitely inspire the hardcore (and old-school) overclockers: 3DMark01. It's the first time this legendary benchmark features in the Pro OC Cup, so it will be interesting to see who still has the 3DMark01 skill.

The final stage of Round 2 is Geekbench3, a multi-threaded benchmark relatively new at HWBOT. The Pro OC teams are limited to using a single CPU configuration and the Windows operating system. Good luck everyone!

The concept of the Pro OC Cup series remains unchanged. From May 15 until August 15 12:00 GMT+0 you can sign up for the Cup, create or swap teams, or simply opt-out. After June 15, the teams and players are locked down until the end of this round. To register, simply submit one score (per team) before June 15 12:00 GMT+0. Two weeks before the end of the competition, on August 1 12:00 GMT+0, the elimination takes place. This means that only the best 10 teams of the round will be allowed to continue the competition.

As you can see on the right hand side and on the Pro OC overview page, the points of the two first round of last season have been removed. Once teams start submitting in the new round, the ranking will automatically update. Good luck everyone!

Just like any other Pro OC competition, the Pro OC 2014 Round 2 counts five stages:

Each Pro OC Team can consist up to five members. The members are linked to the Pro OC Team and will no longer be participating in any of the other user leagues, excluding the Hardware Masters, for the duration of the Pro OC Cup. The members are not obliged to submit any results, so joining a team can be merely to point out you are part of the team. For example, if someone takes up the role as Team Manager, he or she may be responsible for finding sponsors but may never submit a single result. Once the Cup finishes, all members are free to stay with the team, leave it, or join another one. As each competition starts from scratch, moving from one team to the other will not affect the team’s ranking.
