I did'nt make ocp mod to dangerus to kill your vga i have kill two with ocp mod so don't do it.
I'm testing somethink different in that vga and when i'll be ready i'll tell you :)

No,I didn't have any issues like this with the two 7970 I had.The first just degraded the core after using more than 1,65vgpu and the second one had issues with performance under cold.
