Corsair Launches Single Rank Ultra-High-Speed DDR3 DIMMs, DDR3-2625 MHz Capable

Ok, marketing boys! All of us are very enthousiastic about this overclock. It's amazing ... DDR3-2976 at CL10-12-11. Wow, just wow! And, yes, for ultimate performance I will most definitly change to single channel ... thanks for the advice!

Corsair, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced the launch of Dominator GT GTX6 DDR3 memory, an ultra-high-speed PC3-21000 single-rank 1GB DDR3 DIMM. These modules are among the fastest available in the world today, and are designed for CPU and memory benchmarking as well as for world record attempts.

The GTX6 is tested on the Gigabyte P55A-UD5 motherboard with BIOS Revision F10 at a clock speed of 2625 MHz. Specially selected Intel Core i7-860 and Core i7-870 CPUs are used to achieve these memory frequencies. While 2625 MHz is the test specification for a single module, we have found in the lab that speeds as high as 2600 MHz can typically be achieved when testing as a pair. For ultimate performance, using a CPU cooled using liquid nitrogen, we were able to hit 2976 MHz; see our blog for images and screen shots.

I laughed when I saw Corsair giving the advice to run SINGLE CHANNEL for ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE.

It's just not how I know Corsair ...

Whats wrong with single channel Massman?

single channel is slower than dual or tripple channel. ;)

No way? Really?

Looks like single channel to me.

Did Foxconn hire a monk who used to tame Corsair PR manager's inferiority complex?
Seriously, I didn't expect such conservative brand like Corsair to come up with so much marketing bullshit as of late.

Who the hell uses Powerchips as a tool for ultimate performance?
With such latencies and loose tRFC / B2B you require in order to get these above 2500 (in case you have a super-super cherry CPU cooled under LN2 without IMC coldbug) your perfomance will be much worse than, for example, 2000 7-7-7 with common Elpida Hypers.

If they are so concerned about raw freq I'll drop them an email with a challenge to beat the following results (done with a $150 elpida hyper kit) using their best effort to bin Powerchips.
1198@6-7-6, 1355@7-8-7, 1496@8-9-8, 1646MHz singlemodule

427xx is not bad, but you should be looking for sub 42200 on clarkdale ;)
Don't forget this is 1Gb single module too ;)

Might be a CPU-Z error. There were some on Bloomsfields.

look at brianY's efficiency... with his run

why waste time and not just go with sub 41k with 4gb kit :p

TaPaKaH says:

sub 41k on Clarkdale, you have a special BIOS for that? :D

Australia Dinos22 says:

just good hard OCing and tweaking :D

Nothing wrong with single channel. Something wrong with single channel + ultimate performance.

I'm just a bit surprised that Corsair is jumping on the bandwagon of marketing products with extremely stupid memory timings (CL10-12-11 ...) combined with a cherry-picked Lynnfield. I'm not going to run this kind of timings, and I'm sure most of the other extreme guys won't. CL6/CL7-7-7 ... that's what we want for ultimate performance. Read: GTX2-ish memory.

jake can we see some pi action

i dont have any of that gear to freeze to see what it can do........would be interesting to do some ultra high frequency tests and see what it's about

Give me that 860 as andre would say: i'll show u the magic, 10-12-11-150 lol, as nick would say : GOOD JOB.

here you go sam

:p

and there was a hell of a lot left in it too :D

Belgium Massman says:

5G QPI is ... nice :D

TaPaKaH says:

let me guess, no K0 microcode ?

and there was a hell of a lot left in it too
for sure, don't miss the ultimate performance bit on the memory next time around :D

Australia Dinos22 says:

oh and i used ultimate performance memory too ;) Corsair FTW :D hahah

why don't you roll up your sleeves and test some stuff instead of bitching and moaning all day long....show us less bla and more wow :D

Belgium Massman says:

No. Ultimate performance = Single Channel + CL10-12-11. You used dual channel + CL6 ...

Australia Dinos22 says:

there is no denying that whatever corsair does they do better than anyone else..........that's why these guys can call their RAM whatever the hell they want.......they have been kicking everyone's ass for a long time now

Belgium Massman says:

? Don't really understand your last comment, Dino. 1) No one says anything about the quality of Corsair's products. In fact, I refered to the GTX2 kit as being a good example for ultimate performance memory. 2) I don't know if they do it better than anyone else. Depends from what point of view you're looking at it, I guess. 3) ANY MFC can call their products what they want ... it's not even the point of the complaints (no one has a problem with "GTX6") However. Claiming that "ultimate performance" can be reached in single channel mode with CL10-12-11 ... that's just wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. And you know that as well as I do ;)

their RMA sure kicks some ass ... what about their other departments? ... ehm, they only create more work for RMA dept :D
