The 49th edition of the Rookie Rumble contest on OC-ESPORTS came to a close just a few days ago. At the top of the table we find Skylead (France) making his second consecutive win of the season. Meanwhile we have aurion.2358 and wickpote completing a triumvirate of three Frenchmen on the podium. Let’s take a look at the scores and hardware used in a little detail as we also reveal this month’s Lucky Draw winner.

Rookie Rumble #49: October 14th to November 4th, 2017

First, a quick reminder about what the Rookie Rumble series all about. The central idea is to give Rookie, Novice and Apprentice-class HWBOT members a place where they can compete against each other on a level playing field. For this reason Enthusiast, Extreme and Elite Overclockers are not eligible to compete. Round #49 of the contest was set up with three stages featuring the following benchmarks; Intel XTU, Geekbench 4 (Single Core) and the classic 3DMark01 benchmark. Let’s check out each stage in a little more detail, starting with XTU.

Stage 1: Intel XTU

In first place we find a Portuguese Rookie by the name of skydoy. He tops the table with a score of 477.17 marks per core (2,863 marks in total) thanks to a Core i7 8700K based on the latest Coffee Lake architecture that he pushed to 5,310MHz (+43.51%) using an ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero motherboard. Second goes to Skylead who pushed a Kaby Lake Core i7 7700K to 5,410MHz (+28.81%) using an ROG Maximus IX Apex board to score 475.50 marks per core (1,902 marks). In third place we find Review de Tudo Br (Brazil) also using an overclocked Core i7 8700K clocked at the same 5,310MHz (+43.51%) as skydoy. Looks like perhaps the man from Portugal has the upper hand when it comes to memory settings.
