Rauf (Sweden) Wins GALAX GOC 2017 Worldwide Qualifier

Last weekend we came to the conclusion of the GALAX GOC 2017 Worldwide Qualifier contest on OC-ESPORTS. Today we can officially announce that the winner is Rauf (Sweden) who tops the table just ahead of OGS (Greece) and DrWeez (South Africa). The prize at stake was a seat at the GALAX GOC Finals in Thailand next month. Only twelve overclockers will be eligible to compete in the Finals where GALAX will offer cash prizes for the winners. Let’s take a look at the scoring and standings in a little more detail.

GALAX GOC 2017 Worldwide Qualifier: Sept 2nd - October 1st

The GOC 2017 Worldwide Qualifier ran throughout the month of September and was open to all HWBOT members. To compete however, contestants had to first arm themselves with the appropriate hardware. In this year’s contest that meant purchasing a GALAX GeForce GTX 1080 Ti HOF OC Lab Edition graphics card and some GALAX DDR4 memory. Other hardware restrictions include the use of any LGA1151 socket processor (Core i7 7700K or below).

With any form of cooling allowed, the only other restriction was related to CPU frequency. In all stages the CPU frequency was limited to 6GHz. This places serious focus on overclocking GPU and system memory plus the age-old art of OS tweaking - all of which moves focus away from pure CPU performance. In other words, this is a pretty serious OC contest for subzero, memory and GPU pushing veterans only.
