The eighth Overclocking World Championship (OCWC) Qualifier contest of the year came to a head just a few days ago. The contest was held as a key element in the HWBOT World Tour, Moscow 2017 event which took place at IgroMir Expo 2017, the biggest tech event in Russia. With eight of Europe’s most feared overclockers competing over a period of four days, Wizerty from France eventually rose to the top to claim his seat in the Finals at the end of the year. Let’s take a look at the scoring and action that took place.

OCWC - Moscow 2017: Days 1- 3, Qualification Phase - The OCWC Moscow 2017 Qualifier took place at the ASUS Booth at the IgroMir Expo show floor, a lively place throughout the show. The first three days of the event gave competing overclockers a chance to bench as highly as possible across three benchmarks . Overclockers were each given one three hour session invited to score as highly as possible using the following hardware (see below) live at the ASUS Booth. Many of the IgroMir Expo visitors were exposed to subzero overclocking with liquid nitrogen for the first time. I think they may have been quite impressed.

It’s clear from the table that IceAlex (Russia) managed to make the strongest score submissions in his 3 hour session, taking down the win all three stages to end the round with maximum points. The only real component choice of consequence that overclockers could dictate for themselves was motherboard choice (any Z170 / Z270 board). IceAlex opted for the ASUS ROG Maximus IX Apex board. What’s interesting is that the IX Apex was the chosen by all but one overclocker, with qef choosing an ASUS Maximus VIII Impact instead.
