The Power of X, Intel Overclocking Unlocked: Contest Roundup

Taking place at the Pantip Pratunam shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand last weekend, the Intel Overclocking Unlocked 2017 contest pitted five teams of overclockers against each other. All teams represented local Overclocking and enthusiast communities and contained three members. The contest spanned the entire weekend of September 23-24, 2017 with Day 1 focusing on individual overclocking with Day 2 offering team overclocking, plus some really exciting 3v3 matches. Let’s take a look at some of the scoring, the players, the prizes and the winners in a little detail:

Intel Overclocking Unlocked: Partners, Teams and Hardware

Five teams of overclockers were invited to compete in the contest. The contest was organized by Intel and HWBOT with the help and support of partners ASRock, ASUS ROG, AOC, MSI, ThermalTake, HyperX and Western Digital. Here are the teams that were invited to compete:

  • OC Station
  • VMODTECH EXTREME
  • ZoLKoRn
  • extreme pc.in.th
  • OVERCLOCK ZONE

The event was centered on Intel’s High-End Desktop X299 platform with competing overclockers charged with pushing Intel latest Core i5 7640X processors. Various motherboards were made available for the teams with all other hardware components provided by event partners (see below).
