[Video] Gamers Nexus Test AMD Vega 56 Overclocking and Undervolting

Since a rather clumsy and stunted product launch, AMD’s Vega series cards are now available in the channel. Despite lingering controversy around pricing, the new Vega GPUs have proved to be a viable alternative to Nvidia GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 cards. Steve Burke from Gamers Nexus has certainly dedicated a huge chunk of his time and energy to testing his Vega 56 card. He published a live stream that was recorded last week in which he explores the nuances of the card in terms of Overclocking and Undervolting. If you want to get a handle on where the new GPU platform from AMD is right now, this will make for an interesting watch.

Gamers Nexus are increasingly producing good content that tackles the issue of overclocking, and in this case also undervolting. Having taken advice from his Buildzoid we find Steve doing some pretty interesting testing, measuring the current at the PCIe cables using a current clamp and an old smartphone, plus temperature readings directly from a MOSFET on the card - all of which means we can see how the card is reacting under load when running 3DMark Fire Strike.

After some thorough testing Steve managed to boost his performance in 3DMark Fire Strike by 6.5% with higher power draw of 22% using a Hybrid mod liquid cooler.
