The fifth Overclocking World Championship Qualifier contest of the year came to a close yesterday during the Cape Town 2017 leg of the HWBOT World Tour. Four of South Africa’s biggest hitters went head to head in a series of 1v1 matches with DrWeez, South Africa’s No.2 overclocker taking the win. Let’s take a look at the scores results of the contest in a little detail:

OCWC - Cape Town 2017: Day 1, Qualification

The HWBOT World Tour 2017 landed in Cape Town, South Africa for Electronics & Gaming Expo (EGE) this weekend, hosting overclocking workshops and contests to generally spread the word of overclocking to South African gamers and enthusiasts. From a competitive overclocking perspective, the highlight of the event is the Overclocking World Championship, a series of extreme overclocking contests that are held at each World Tour location where winners get a seat at a Grand Final at the end of the year. This year four South African overclockers took part in the OCWC Qualifier contest; DrWeez, Vivi, Schnubb and QuantumX:

To first decide who would be paired with whom in the 1v1 Semi-Final phase, all competing Overclockers were invited to compete in a Qualification Stage. This took place on Saturday 29th during the EGE event with overclockers give three hours to score as highly as possible. Overclockers were allowed to use their own motherboard and SSD (OS) with an Intel Core i7 7700K provided by HWBOT and drawn at random to keeps things as fair as possible. DDR4 memory was also provided.
