Sofos1990 (Greece) Dominates 6-Core, 8-Core and 10-Core Global First Place 2D Rankings

Greek master overclocker and GIGABYTE’s in-house OC guru Sofos1990 has been a busy chap recently, getting thoroughly acquainted with Intel’s Skylake-X series processors. In fact, in the last few weeks he’s managed to take Global First Place scores in (almost) all 2D benchmarks on HWBOT in the 6-core, 8-core and 10-core rankings. These scores have been done using the new Core i7 7800X, Core i7 7820X and Core i7 7900X processors. Let’s take a look at the highlights reel:

In the HWBOT World Rankings for 2D, i.e. CPU-bound benchmarks, we have the following; XTU, HWBOT Prime, wPrime (32M and 1024M) Cinebench (R11.5 and R15), Geekbench and GPUPI for CPU 1B (we’ll discount the HWBOT x265 benchmark as it was only added to the rankings list yesterday). If we look at the hexa-core, octa-core and deca-core first place scores for each of these, we find Sofos1990 to be top dog in all but one.

Let’s look at a few of the more recent examples. In the XTU benchmark he reigns supreme in the hexa-core stakes with a score of 2,984 marks, pushing an Intel Core i7 7800X to 5,900MHz (+68.57%). With an 8-core Intel Core i7 7820X chip clocked at 5,800MHz (+61.11%) he sits at the top of the rankings with a score of 3,702 marks. Using an Intel Core i9 7900X clocked at 5,750MHz (+74.24%) he scored 4,257 marks, a score which is not only the highest for that chip and the highest with a ten-core CPU – it also happens to be a World Record XTU score, period!

Another recent arena of conquest is the HWBOT Prime benchmark. Using a six core Intel Core i7 7800X chip clocked at 5,900MHz (+68.57%) he managed to score 9,429.56 pps. In the octa-core arena he managed a score of 10,779.23 pps pushing an Intel Core i7 7820X to 5,900MHz (+63.89%). A score of 12,222.87 pps was submitted using a Intel Core i9 7900X clocked at a massive 6,030MHz (+82.73%).

All the scores were made using the eagerly awaited GIGABYTE X299 SOC Champion motherboard paired with G.SKILL Trident Z memory. You can find all of the 6-core, 8-core and 10-core Global First Place scores here on the Sofos1990 profile page. Interestingly, the only Global First Place score that eludes Sofos in these rankings is the GPUPI for CPU 1B 6-core GFP score which is currently owned by der8auer and an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X processor. The recent hard work from Sofos1990 places him in 7th place in the HWBOT World Rankings with a total points haul of 2,222.60. Nice going!
