Throwback Thursday: Hicookie Becomes World No.1 with 1,360MHz GTX 480 and 4x World Records

It’s time once again to revisit a memorable HWBOT news article from the past. This Thursday we bring you a post made back in June 2010 when GIGABYTE’s in-house overclocker Hicookie jumped up the HWBOT rankings to become World No.1. His position in the rankings was elevated when did some pretty awesome work with his GTX 480 card, hitting 1,360MHz and bringing down some very nice scores. The session actually resulted in no less than four World Records. Here’s what we wrote in 2010:

It's a sunny and warm day here in Belgium, as summer begins. Birds whistling, clear blue sky and above all short skirts ... you just know it's one of those days that'll make you happy. In addition to all this, Hicookie (not in Belgium) decided it was time to bring out the big guns and take down a few world records: 1360MHz GTX 480!

Where to begin? Okay, Vantage. Combined with the GTX 480 clocked at 1360/1200MHz, Hicookie uses an Intel i7 980X clocked at 6150MHz all placed on GIGABYTE's latest X58A-UD9 mainboard. This leads to an impressive score of P37246; almost 2000 points above ranked second NickShih. This same configuration is used to hit 149457 points in 3DMark03, 56328 points in 3DMark05 and 42921 points in 3DMark06. The only Single GPU record that hasn't been broken is the AquaMark3 record as Hicookie got stuck at 456594. Four world records and thus taking points from his nearest competitor also means that Hicookie jumps from 5th to 1st in the Overclockers League.
