Just moments ago we witnessed the conclusion of the G.SKILL OC World Cup 2017 contest. At the end of a grueling week with five of the world’s most respected extreme overclockers competing live at the G.SKILL booth here at Computex 2017, Italian overclocker Roberto ‘rsaninno’ has taken first place and the $10,000 USD prize. The final day of the contest saw the Italian go head to head against last year’s winner Xtreme Addict from Poland, historically one of the most successful live competitive overclockers ever. With less than an hour we found rsaninno marginally ahead on the score card with higher scores in three out of four benchmarks. By the time the countdown clock had reached the end of the contest, we find rsannino sealing the win with victories in three out of four stage.

In Stage 1 the contestants were challenged to reach the highest dual channel DDR4 frequency possible while using a CAS latency of CL11 – a pretty crafty challenge considering that hitting high frequencies usually involves much looser timings. Roberto managed a frequency of 2,142 MHz with a i7 7700K clocked 4200MHz, while Xtreme Addict could manage only 2,061.1MHz. Stage 2 is all about scoring as highly as possible in the Geekbench 3 Multi-Core with CPUs restricted to a peak frequency of 6.5GHz. At the end of the contest Xtreme Addict to the win with a score of 28,424 points. Roberto managed a score of 28,413 points making things pretty close.

In Stage 3 we come to a fight in the 3DMark Physics benchmark with CPUs again at at 6.5GHz. The Italian secured the win with a score of 20,751 marks, some way ahead of the Pole with 18,092 marks. The final Stage involves benching Cinebench R15 at no higher than 6.5GHz. The stage proved to a very tight affair with just one separating the two contenders. Rsannino edged past XA with a score of 1,479 cb points. The win was secured.

Congrats to rsannino and Xtreme Addict who played crucial roles in making the G.SKILL OC World Cup 2017 a great competitive spectacle. A huge round of applause goes to Roberto for taking the win. Well done to you sir! The watching crowd at the Computex show made the event feel as exciting and energetic as ever. Intel and G.SKILL executives were on hand to present all five competing Overclockers with their cash prizes with the usual fanfare and LN2 smoke helping to ensure a festival style atmosphere.

Let’s not forget that rsannino will now join steponz (US), PXHX (Brazil) and Dancop (Germany) as winner of the Overclocking World Championship Qualifier, Taipei 2017 winner. This means that he will be now compete in the OCWC Final at the end of the year.
