The Rookie Ryzen Rumble is a contest series that invites Rookie and Novice league overclockers to compete on the latest AMD Ryzen branded CPUs. With up to 8 cores and 16 threads Ryzen 7 series processors have the potential to compete with the latest and greatest consumer chips from Intel. As such they have enormous potential for overclocking, especially when you consider that the entire series is unlocked and ready for serious tweaking. The Rookie Ryzen Rumble #2 is the second in a young OC contest series that is gradually growing in popularity with Rookies. Let’s look at the hardware being pushed and the scores made.

Rookie Ryzen Rumble #2: April 8th to 29th, 2017

As with the regular Rookie Rumble series, each contest features three stages with three different benchmarks selected for each round. In the second ever Rookie Ryzen Rumble we find the following stages employed; Reference Clock, HWBOT x265 1080p and 3DMark Time Spy Physics.

In Stage 1 we find that the Rookie with best skills at pushing the system reference clock to be Germany’s Pingo. He used a ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero motherboard to push a Ryzen 7 1800X to 3,774MHz (+4.85%) using a reference clock of 150.98MHz and multiplier of x25. Memory settings included a G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 kit clocked at 1,546MHz using 16-16-16-39 timings. Second place goes to skullbringer (Germany) with a clock of 150.55MHz while third place belongs to JimJamJamin (Uk) on 144.97MHz.
