Futuremark to Demo New Benchmarks plus Extreme Overclocking at GDC 2017

GDC 2017 is already well underway, taking place at the Mosconi Center in San Francisco for the duration of this week. Futuremark as always will be in attendance at the show to woo gamers and enthusiasts with their latest benchmark software. This year however they are also hosting a demonstration of Extreme Overclocking with Pieter-Jan "Massman" Plaisier taking a day to show visitors what truly extreme performance is all about.

In terms of benchmarks demos, arguably the most interesting demo will be that of the new and forthcoming Cyan Room benchmark that is designed to test systems using the new DX12 API. According to Futuremark:

“VRMark Cyan Room, currently in development, is a new DirectX 12 benchmark test for Windows PC. Sitting between the Orange and Blue Rooms, the Cyan Room benchmark shows how using an API with less overhead helps developers create impressive VR experiences on modest PC systems.”

VRMark will not be the only benchmark on display at the show. Futuremark will also showcase a new VRMark benchmark for Mobile VR applications so that you can assess the performance of your smartphone. Visitors will also be treated to a new VR latency test that is co-developed with OptoFidelity, a ‘pioneer in robot-assisted testing and quality assurance’. Finally the company will demo its latest software benchmark for servers, aptly dubbed Servermark.

The highlight of the week however may well be the Overclocking demo with Massman showing attendees just how much performance is actually possible when a chip is pushed under LN2. The OC demo will take place at the Futuremark stand from 1pm-5pm on Thursday March 2nd. If you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to pop by. You can find Futuremark at stand 142, from March 1 to March 3.
