Yesterday Dancop gave us even more proof of his credentials as the No.1 Overclocker in the world today. His latest feat? A new World Record in the 3DMark 2001 SE benchmark, a benchmark you could probably describe as an oldie, but a goodie. The new World Record for the benchmark now sits at 216,609 marks, which is ahead of the next closest score of 212,326 marks which was made, somewhat fittingly, by current world No.2 Xtreme Addict just a few weeks ago.

The new World Record score from Dancop was made using the latest Kaby Lake Intel Core i7 7700K processor, in this case pushed to 7,006.83MHz which is a massive +66.83% beyond the chip’s stock settings. This is just ahead of XA’s effort where the same chip was configured at 6,986MHz (+66.33%).

3DMark 2001 SE is an older benchmark where a single, older GPU actually tends to work best, i.e. the benchmark doesn't scale well with multiple GPUs or use the latest graphics technologies (in fact the crucial factor here in this new World Record is the extra juice provided by the Kaby Lake Core i7700K). For these reasons Dancop opted for a GeForce GTX 980Ti Matrix card from ASUS with the GPU at 1,500MHz (+39.41%) and the graphics memory at 2,100MHz (+19.79%). Other rig details include a G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 kit configured at 2,004MHz using CL12.0 12-12-28 1T timings, plus an ASUS ROG Maximus IX Apex motherboard.
