If you have been following the Kaby Lake World Record and Global First Places news, you may well be aware that ASUS have done a very good job of making sure their flagship motherboard is in good shape for the newly arrived platform. The ROG Maximus IX Apex motherboard currently features heavily in the list of new records. It’s not surprising considering that ASUS actually invited some the world’s best Overclocking talent to Taipei to give the new Apex board a thorough vetting ahead of launch.

The ASUS ROG site just published news about an Absolute Zero overclocking meet up that was held a few weeks ago. The list of invitees includes Fredyama, elmor, slamms, Shamino, der8auer, coolice, Raja, Xtreme Addict and Dancop. Armed with liquid helium (LHe) the gang managed to push a Core i7 7700K to 7.38GHz, in the process taking down eight World Records and a bunch of Global First Places.

In terms of 2D benchmarking Dancop managed to break the World Record fastest ever time in PiFast (9sec 20ms) and SuperPi 1M (4sec 937ms) . Fredyama also made a World Record run in SuperPi 32M (4min 17sec 500ms). Global First places for 4x CPU rankings were also made in Cinebench R11.5, Cinebench R15, Geekbench 3 (Multi), GPUPI for CPU 1B, HWBOT Prime, wPrime 32M, wPrime1024M and the Intel XTU benchmark. Regarding legacy benchmarks single GPU records were also broken in 3DMark 2001 SE, 3DMark03, 3DMark05 and 3DMark06. 2x GPU Global First Places were also made. In more modern 3D benching Dancop also brought down the World Record for Unigine Heaven Xtreme (11,187.77) using a pair of GTX 1080 cards.
