Opa! Greece Wins HWBOT Country Cup 2016 (Australia 2nd, Germany 3rd)

Greece have just won the HWBOT Country Cup for the second time in their history. Adding to their previous victory in 2012, they claimed the win this year with a commanding lead at the top of the table and points total of 245 points. The Greeks finish ahead of serial winners Australia on 199 points, and Germany with 193 points.

Hosted on OC-ESPORTS the HWBOT Country Cup 2016 ran from November 1st to December 23 (just moments ago in fact). The contest is pretty much the World Cup of Overclocking and truly is an epic and grueling contest. It consists of six separate stages that challenges the best overclockers from around the world to bench on the best hardware they can lay their hands on.

Greece win the 2016 thanks to some monstrously hard work from Greek overclockers mortisboy, GreekPhantom, junior-21, Demac, FireKillerGR, [MSI] OGS, MetallicGR and $@39@ (who notably took the weight of his country’s aspirations on his shoulders in Stage 6). The win looks about as dominant as any previous year with the Greek team finishing top in all but one stage. In terms of prizes they can look forward to three G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 Kits, a GIGABYTE Z170X-Gaming 6 motherboard, a GIGABYTE Z170X-UD5 motherboard, a Kingpin Cooling Combo Pack plus an EVGA Epower board.

We will return to the topic of the HWBOT Country Cup 2016 contest and the Greece win in a more in-depth article on OC-ESPORTS next week. For now, a huge cheer for all the competing Overclockers who took part, and of course a massive congratulations to Greece for pulling off such a emphatic win. Opa!
