The HWBOT x265 benchmark has now been with us for just under a year, and today we are happy to bring you news that the 1080p version has now seen its 2,000th benchmark submission on HWBOT, a testament to the fact that it has been reasonably well embraced by the OC community as a competitive benchmark.

The HWBOT x265 benchmark is developed by Czech overclocker Havli. The benchmark basically renders a video in either 1080P or 4K resolution using the x265/HEVC encoder. The can take advantage of modern CPU instructions sets and is multi-threaded, a fact that means the more cores you have, the better. It also supports older processor platforms, be it rather slowly of course, which means it’s good for legacy contests.

The integration with HWBOT is similar to what happens with the GPUPI benchmark: it supports both direct submissions from the application as well as the ability to save the data file to submit at a later point in time. As of today, the HWBOT x265 benchmark is no longer in beta.
