Splave (US) Wins G.SKILL 2016 World Cup, Wins $10,000 Cash Prize

For the last five years G.SKILL have been running the G.SKILL OC World Cup, a contest that actually spans three round; an online Qualifier followed by a Live Qualifier and then Grand Final 1v1 round. The live stuff takes place each year at the G.SKILL booth at the Computex show in G.SKILL’s hometown Taipei. As always a large prize pool of over $16,000 US dollars was up for grabs, including a whopping $10,000 large ones for the eventual contest winner.

The six winners that were in Taiwan included some of the most respected faces, including World No.1 Dancop (Germany), Splave (US), Lucky_n00b (Indonesia), Alex@ro (Romania), Hazzan (Indonesia) and Wizerty (France).

The contest involved fives stages which were broken down thusly:

  • Stage 1: 3DMark Fire Strike IGP 5G
  • Stage 2: Highest DDR4 Frequency
  • Stage 3: Geekbench Single Core 5G
  • Stage 4: 3DMark11 Physics 5G
  • Stage 5: 3DMark11 Performance IGP 5G
  • Overclockers were given the first three days of the event to bench as high as possible on all five stages. Regarding hardware only Z170 Platform components and G.SKILL memory were allowed. The live qualifying benching sessions were all conducted under live (and loud) conditions at the Computex booth in the Nangang exhibition center, with morning and afternoon sessions held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
