Lab501 Hit 8GHz at AMD, Sapphire and eMag Event

Romania’s lab501.ro team were in attendance at an event hosted by AMD in Bucharest where the LN2 was flowing very freely indeed. The event was put together by eMag to showcase not only AMD processors being pushed, but also the latest VR technologies that the company is developing. Attendees were invited to try out an Oculus Rift headset on a system equipped with a Sapphire Radeon 390X video card. AMD, Sapphire and eMAG also raffled off a bunch of prizes to attendees including CPUs, graphics cards, coolers and discount vouchers for AMD hardware.

But you know what's going to happen when you invite a bunch of overclockers to a VR showcase event, they start pushing hardware to the limit. Lab501.ro captains Matose and Monstru targeted their OC fury at an AMD FX-8370, cranking it to a nice 7,972MHz using an Asus 970 PRO GAMING board. Monstru himself stepped up to show that he still knows how to strut with a tumbler of LN2 in one hand, pushing an FX-9590 to 8,061MHz on an ASRock 990FX Extreme9 board. This is apparently 40MHz higher than the previous highest frequency ever achieved in Romania.

Make sure you check out the video of the event, especially of like me you a weakness for grown men drinking and exhaling liquid nitrogen. Cheers Monstru!
