k|ngp|n Smashes 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme World Record

Another day, another World Record falls by the wayside. This time we have US OC legend k|ngp|n bring the world of 3D overclocking to its knees with a new 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme World Record of 36,264 marks, a substantial lead over the previous record of 34,120 submitted by 8 Pack in October of last year.

The rig used to great effect by k|ngp|n is not surprisingly powered by 4x GTX 980Ti cards pushed to the absolute limit on LN2. The cards in question were in fact EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti K|ngp|n Edition cards with the GPU pushed to 1,955MHz, an enormous +81.69% over stock value, plus the graphics memory frequency pumped up to 2,103MHz (+19.97%).

Other key components include an Intel Core i7 5970X clocked at an incredible 5,812MHz (+93.73% beyond stock), an EVGA X99 Classified motherboard plus a G.SKILL Trident Z memory kit. Let’s not forget an EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 1,600 Watt PSU (a crucial component when you’re pushing this much hardware, this hard).

As you might expect, the submission means a decent points haul for k|ngp|n who a takes 100 points for the new 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme World Record, 40points for the 4x GPU 1st place ranking, plus a couple of points for the 4x GTX 980 Ti world ranking.

Congrats to k|ngp|n for some incredible work as always. Make sure you check out his submission here on HWBOT, as well as the Fire Strike Hall of Fame.
