AMD has just officially unveiled their latest attack on the high-end graphics card market with the launch of the Radeon Pro Duo, a card that the company is positioning for content creators, specifically those working on VR content. With a potential performance peak of 16 teraflops, the Pro Duo squeezes two Fiji GPUs into one card, leveraging the same water cooling tech we saw with previous Fury cards. With a price tag of $1500 the Duo really seems quite an attractive beast. Writing for Ars Technica, this is what Mark Walton had to say:

“Both GPUs on the Radeon Pro Duo sport the full array of 4096 stream processors, 256 texture units, and 256 ROPs. There's 8GB of high bandwidth memory on board, split between the two GPUs, running at 1GHz on a substantial 4096-bit bus for 512GB/s of bandwidth. Like the Fury X, the Radeon Pro Duo is liquid cooled via an all-in-one unit with a 120mm radiator.”

Regardless of AMD not positioning these cards for the consumer market, or ‘Gaming’ per-say, they should make for some useful OC experimentation when squeezed and tuned to the max. And if power draw is an indication of how much of a beast a card really is, then the fact that the Pro Duo requires 3x 8-pin PCIe connectors points towards a VGA card of monstrous potential.
