LinusTechTips: 7 Independent Gaming Rigs in 1 Tower (and about USD $30K)

Whether or not you like Linus and his YouTube channel with over two million followers, this video is pretty cool. The 7 Gamers, 1 CPU - Ultimate Virtualized Gaming Build Log is a follow-up on the more cost-effective version with two virtualized gaming clients but features, well, more clients. The idea is simple: since a lot of games don't really require a large amount of processor cores, you can split the resources between multiple game rigs. In this case the two 14-core Xeon E5 2697 V3 processors are used for 7 distinct gaming clients, each having four cores and 8 threads. With 256GB of system memory, each client also has 32GB of memory available. Last but not least, each user has an AMD Fury Nano graphics card too. And all this for the amazing price of, ehrm, USD $30,000.

All jokes aside, the video is really worth checking out. The idea to use a single system for multiple gaming clients is pretty interesting by itself and taking it to the extreme like Linus did, is just very very cool. Oh, right! If you're visiting CES 2015 you can check out this monster of a gaming build yourself!.
