Forum user Random reminded us of new Skylake frequency top results set about 10 days ago by Chi-Kui Lam. A couple hours before the kick-off at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco (Aug 18 - 20), The Hong Kong based overclocker achieved 6998 MHz CPU frequency and DDR4-4900.

The combination of ASRock Z170 OC Formula and the G.SKILL DDR4 TridentX Skylake line-up is working out quite well. Aside from the overall memory frequency world record, set by Chi-Kui Lam, we've also seen the DDR4-4266 kits demoed at IDF.

The two weeks following the Skylake launch have been quite interesting for overclocking enthusiasts. Now that retail availability of CPUs and motherboards is getting better, we can expect more magic to come!
