EVBOT No Need! Use Raspberry Pi to Control EPOWER Instead (Guide with Pictures)

Ah, the EPOWER external PCB.

For many overclockers it has changed their outlook on overclocking life. Where a couple of years ago most of the extreme VGA overclockers waited for graphics cards vendors to come up with the best VRM design, today we don't care anymore. What the EPOWER and all its competitor/derivatives (depending on your point of view) have established, is the fact that any graphics card can now have a beefed up VRM in case stock isn't good enough.

Overclockers the likes of Der8auer (hey, I've seen that name pass by today already) have tested plenty of power boards from ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI, GALAX, and EVGA. In fact, the German boy-wonder even wrote a small review comparing the most prominent power boards using a GeForce GTX Titan X. You can find the review of the A/G/E-POWER designs in a dedicated forum thread. Jumping straight to the conclusion of the EVGA EPOWER, Der8auer lists "The Board works very well" and "No OVP or OCP" as positives, followed by "However we lost 2 out of 5 which seems quite a lot" and "EVGA EVbot needed" as negatives. The latter is complaint many have voiced as the availability of EVBOT controller" is rather limited.

To this problem, TiN from EVGA has come up with a solution which may be as cost-effective as it is elegant. Instead of sourcing your way to an EVBOT sniping EBAY auctions, you can simply use your Raspberry Pi! And yes, we assume every overclocker already has a Raspberry Pi in the house after we published a brief how-to overclocking guide a while back.

In this article posted at xdevs.com you can find all details on how to hook up a Raspberry Pi to the EVGA EPOWER. Don't forget to share your adventures in the forum thread as well.
