Last week the Hardware.info Pro OC team published an article on Z97 motherboards tested for extreme overclocking. In the round-up, Rsnubje and Nedernakker (both Dutch), took four Z97 overclocking motherboards for a liquid nitrogen spin and compared the overclocking capabilites. The boards put through their paces are: GIGABYTE's Z97X-SOC Force, ASRock's Z97 OC Formula, MSI's Z97 XPower AC, and finally ASUS' Maximus VII Gene motherboard.

Based on the Final Thoughts section it appears that both GIGABYTE and MSI motherboards performed well, with the GIGABYTE edging out in clocks and performance. Although the ASRock board achieved the best results in the end, the article notes that the board responds quirky and the lack of software for Windows XP is a definite negative on the list. Due to time constraints the Maximus VII Gene couldn't be put through its paces and thus the findings are limited.
