K|ngp|n Breaks 3DMark Fire Strike and Fire Strike Extreme World Records With 4x GTX 980 at 2GHz

With the GeForce GTX 980 drivers maturing and overclockers getting more experienced with the new X99 platform, the 3D records are wide open to be challenged. K|ngp|n, as usual, is one of the overclockers aiming to set the records in the latest 3DMark benchmarks and broke both 3DMark Fire Strike and 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme World Records. The new scores to beat are 40338 and 28059 and improve the previous record by 286 and 817 points respectively

For the new records K|ngp|n uses a set of four GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards clocked at 2000/2100 MHz. This is combined with an Intel Core i7 5960X at 5650 MHz and 16GB of G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 memory. The CPU and the four GPUs are all cooled with liquid nitrogen.

Congratulations to K|ngp|n for the new World Records! Interesting links:
