When Enough Is Just Not Enough: Here's 128GB of Memory on X79
I just found this on the ROG community website and it seems like something that should be shared. Hong Kong based I'M Intelligent Memory recently announced the availability of 16GB DDR3 memory modules which sparked the lads at ASUS to try on their X79 boards. As it turns out, they managed to get an X79 system up and running with 128GB of system memory! Of course the frequency isn't through the roof and I doubt the SuperPI 32M efficiency is that great, but this should be one hell of a system for people who use ramdisks.
As for now, they posted beta BIOSes for seven motherboards. You can find them over at rog.asus.com. Cool!
