AMD Kabini is certainly an interesting architecture. Built for the mobile space, but not quite good enough yet to compete with the likes of Qualcomm or Intel, AMD decided to also release a socketed version of this product. The socketed version is cheap. Dirt cheap! I just bought a set locally and an Athlon 5350 with an ASUS AM1I-A motherboard costs less than TWD $3000 (EUR €75).

Of course overclocking is a little less easy. First of all, there are not that many motherboards out there that can actually overclock Kabini. It seems the AM1A-I is the preferred choice for most Kabini tweakers. Secondly, the architecture is designed for low power, which means it's not optimized for high frequency. So don't expect 8GHz from Kabini! On air cooling, it seems like the stability range varies between 2.6GHz and 2.8GHz.

Toyone from Hungary doesn't believe air cooling is enough, though. So he pulled out the LN2 dewar and that resulted in a very interesting 3.156 GHz Kabini CPU-Z validation. Not too shabby for a low-power architecture!
