Remove Your Heatspreader with MSI - Delid Die Guard New Feature of Upcoming XPower AC

On its Fan Club Facebook page, MSI just teased a new feature called Delid Die Guard. The Guard is a very simple tool to protect the CPU core after removing the heatspreader of the CPU. According to the shared picture, the Delid Die Guard will be part of the feature-set of the upcoming MSI XPower AC series.

Looking forward to the new board!

Interesting!

Aren't Intel going back to solder for Haswell refresh cpus? Or just a better TIM? Regardless, if this can be stolen and used on otherboards.... :D

South Africa Vivi says:

going to be epic fail if 4790k is soldered :P, but i love it when companies embrace this kind of thing

United Kingdom 8 Pack says:

Great for our OC systems.

Germany der8auer says:

I thought improved TIM and not soldered :D Soldered would be awesome of course. Still cool feature to have!

United States steponz says:

I thought improved TIM also...

United Kingdom TheMadDutchDude says:

Yeah, it was confirmed to be improved TIM rather than the useless crap they use now. Looks like soldered IHS's are a thing of the past unless you're on the premium (Extreme) chips.

Germany der8auer says:

Soldering is also much more expensive for them. Even if they just save 1€ per chip it'll be a lot in total.

United Kingdom marsey99 says:

will it stop the bare ic getting crushed?

if so then great, and all oc mobo will soon come with them but if not...

United States Splave says:

junk -130c ish again, dont get too excited or sell your haswell lmao

Germany der8auer says:

Ofc. It's physically the same chip. Only Air, water and dice will be (slightly) better.

United States Splave says:

Will be a skip for me, bring on x99

It's a silicon revision + redesign PCB.

But same architecture of course.

I love it, we're back to s462 :D
