It has been an interesting Cinebench week. Not only did L0ud_sil3nc3, qualified for the HyperX OC Takeover final in Las Vegas, achieve the best ever single socket AMD result yet, yesterday W1zerty from France once more improved the overall 6xCPU (and single socket) Cinebench R11.5 Record. W1zerty improved 0.07 points over how previous score, pushing the new record to 19.08 points with a Core i7 4930K at an incredible 6.3GHz. L0ud_sil3nc3 needed a bit more power to achieve his goal; 12.86 points with an FX-8350 at 7.5GHz.

It seems like an excellent opportunity to make a quick comparison between both architectures. W1zerty's result required 16% less CPU frequency to score slightly over 48% higher. Even if we would consider the most realistic and positive approach to counting cores, accounting four for the FX-8350 and six for the Core i7 4960X, the difference is significant. In that case, the Intel CPU has 50% more cores, but still requires 16% less frequency to achieve the same relative performance.

Luckily, overclocking is more than comparing architectures and design efficiency. Quoting L0ud_sil3nc3 from his thread over at XtremeSystems: "What a difference, some of the most fun I've had in a while." Yeap, that is what overclocking is all about!
