HyperX OC Takeover (HOT) Contest in Final Week - Who Makes It To Vegas Final?!

Only seven days until we know who will compete for the title of HyperX OC Takeover Champion live at CES in Las Vegas, early January next year. There are five seats available in the final. At the moment of writing, the finalists would be 8Pack (UK), Steponz (USA), Littleboy and OC_Windforce (South Korea), and r0yal_flush (ID). But of course this is an overclocking competition, so there are probably plenty of people holding on to their precious bags of sand. On the forums, we see plenty of people posting their large collection of Kingston memory (bought for this competition!). We expect to see a lot of big results in the last stretch of the contest.

This is not to say, that the current leading results are not impressive. Oh, on the contrary. In the Memory Clock stage, two people already managed to surpass the DDR3-4000 mark. 8Pack's XTU and SuperPI 32M scores are good for top ranks in the global tables each, with the XTU score being the current number two!

  • Splave.ROM's Memory Clock - 2108.6 MHz with DDR3 SDRAM
  • 8 Pack's SuperPi 32M score - 4min 44sec 94ms with Intel Core i7 4770K at 6534 MHz
  • 8 Pack's XTU score - 1507 marks with Intel Core i7 4770K at 6125MHz

We look forward too seeing how this competition turns out. Stay Tuned, Stay Hyper!

Self suggestion Allen? I think you already gat 2 scores to submit, isn't it? :D

United States Splave says:

Xtreme Addict, choose which bench you want to run the cpu before it dies XD XD

United States steponz says:

i think the next contest should be winner of the week or something like that.. all the sandbaggers are annoying and it takes the fun out of it...

Poland Xtreme Addict says:

Splave that's why I have backup cpus :D

It will be always like this, date is date, some of us are collecting still hw, some of us were in Taiwan for ~ 2 weeks and came back only few days before the end hoping to participate and so on...

United States steponz says:

I totally understand, just annoying When people purposely do it.. i hope some people get burned at the end because hey thought there scores were good..

I just think there needs to be more incentive then the finalscores for a more interesting competition.. just makes it all around more interesting and fun to watch. :)

Poland Xtreme Addict says:

That's why there are weekly prizes ;) Trust me, if I had time and weren't in Taiwan I would go for weekly prizes, but simply it was impossible for me ;)

United States Splave says:

I was more than happy with the weekly prize. dayum like $1000 bundle

United States steponz says:

I think that was a great idea that they did that.. splave, you definitely got a great weekly prize.. i definitely think they did that part right.. and probably better then any of the other comps i have seen in the past couple months.

There just needs to be a more creative format too discourage sand bagging.. We all get the benefits and potential downfalls.. And i personally have no idea what the answer is.. but there should be something in place to discourage it.. its more fun to watch back and forth scores rather then at the end. ;)

I think this has to be one of the best contests yet to be honest.. there just has to be a better way..

United States Splave says:

what if at random intervals the top scorer overall gets $100 lol! 3 times a week unannounced

France marmott says:

The only thing I can think of is more prices at regular intervals (every 5 days?) for each stages but then on a 30 days long contest with 3 stages it's 18 prizes or more. And then the prices need to be attractive enough to push people to fight for them.

Belgium leeghoofd says:

Nah JB this format is one of the better ones, weekly is more then okay... Too bad I won't get my dimms in time... so sad bought them two weeks ago on fleabay Germany... no sign of them so far... will have to fight to even remain in top 10 with these crazy geezers here :p But I'm learning stuff which is good...

I agree the epic week 2 prizes made alot of scores come out, I think the battle would have been even greater for them if half the MOA guys that will try this comp weren't preoccupied in Taipei. :D

Belgium leeghoofd says:

I would also loved to have seen a 5Ghz compo instead of this flat out Pi32M/XTU... I'm lacking 500-600MHz, so just in it for the fun :)

South Africa Vivi says:

i agree! this format rules. if didnt go to taiwan i would have attempted weekly 2 full out :)
