AndreYang and Terry702 Win Intel® XTU Overclocking Challenge

To celebrate the launch of the XTU project cooperation between Intel® and HWBOT, we hosted the first ever XTU overclocking competition. The competition kicked off on July 9, and ended last weekend on August 9. The competition consisted of two parts: a desktop contest, and a mobile contest. To participate, overclockers simply had to download the Intel® XTU software application, install it on an Ivy Bridge or Haswell system, run the benchmark, and submit your score.

The competition featured a couple of great prizes. For the winner of the quad core desktop competition, Intel prepared a Core i7 4770K based iBuyPower Revolt. For the winner of the quad core mobile competition, there is a Razer Edge ready to ship out. For those who feel lucky, there are two Core i5 4670K CPUs in the lucky draw jar!

The competition was very intense as the XTU world record was broken no less than seven (7!) times, featuring two main protagonists. AndreYang from Taiwan opened the competition day with a score of 1480 points, followed by SF3D from Finland scoring 1514 points seven days later. In the end, AndreYang took the victory with a score of 1559 points using an Intel Core i7 4770K clocked at 6261MHz. Quite impressive overclock for a Prime95 based benchmark. In the quad core mobile section, Terry702 from Taiwan took the win. He opened up an Alienware notebook and overclocked the Core i7 3960XM to 4.7 GHz. The final winning score of the mobile section of the competition was 940 points. That is very nice for a mobile CPU!

The Core i5 4670K lucky draw winners are AgustinXtreme and True Monkey. Congratulations! The winners will be contacted shortly.

With 160 overclockers participating in the Intel® XTU Overclocking Challenge, submitting over 430 results, we are very pleased with the enthusiasm for the XTU utility. Stay tuned for upcoming competitions, new utility revisions, and especially upcoming supported platforms!
