Who's benches from Miami? lol

Steponz? you alive bro?

Belgium Massman says:

OCForums thread says Chew* I think.

TaPaKaH says:

good luck beating Andre!

United States chew* says:

Love how stuff gets twisted.

I'm flying to miami thursday late running a gaming demo rig on ln2 live at tiger direct and leaving saturday early.

Nothing more.

Might add with all the drama i'm dealing with in real life atm I am not in the position or mindset to be worrying about breaking anything except for the system that i'm demoing on.

United States hokiealumnus says:

Heh, FWIW, that was a QUOTE from TigerDirect; we're not trying to sensationalize chew*.

Hey, maybe you can use that marketing gimmick to your advantage. If the first chip doesn't do it, tell them to get another off the shelf. Continue ad nauseum until a) they're out of chips or b) you break the record. It's their fault for making it about that after all. :p

Good luck Chew! you can do it all night long!

I do... I may not be at the level of you guys *YET*... But I do live in South Florida and I do bench.
And I will be attending this event. Hoping to beg/plead/convince chew* to make a run at the record once he's tired of the gaming demo. ;D

United States Hondacity says:

Woah what level are you talking about. Im just level 1/10 hhehehe no WR like macci/chew* these guys are level 11/10.

LOL... Well... You're still way ahead of me on the benching dept... So that's what I was referring to. :D

So Chew* has one extra chip? :p

Updated title on Overclockers.com to "AMD & TigerDirect Horse and Pony Show". The original QUOTE featured above, which *chew has stated is inaccurate, was provided by a TigerDirect marketing employee who contacted me by email. Seems they had their wires crossed.

So if chew isnt doing the attempt then who is?..

I'd be more than happy to have a go at it... ;) Just gotta convince the TD/AMD guys at the event to let me at it while I'm there.

level up bro :D

Since you would be using my chips and those chips being B2 F die which are commisioned to be destroyed you would hit a whopping 8160 seeing as thats what my best chip does on ln2......

Of course you wouldn't be able to submit that either being ES and or hardware sharing for 2D ;)

Simply put you have a better chance at getting a better results on a store bought retail than the chips I am using......they are being used as they are disposable.

Also the system would have to be broken down and defrosted after a gaming demo as validation attempts are best attempted with the system under cold for a max of 30 minutes....

The chip I'm using to demo on isn't that great, 7875 valid, however it has proved to be quite reliable having been under ln2 for well over 30 hours of events now....

Quite good considering reports I have read from overclockers.....

Here's the schedule

7:00pm
Brian will start running programs on the overclocked systems. We have secured a monitor for Brian to use.
Benchmarks
Frequency
Gaming- show off battlefield 3. Will bring someone out of the audience to play the game

8:00pm
Brian will continue to over clock the system

9:00pm
Wrap up and close the event.

No mention of WR attempt in my job description........nor much time to do so.

While I would love to let someone try we already know what the chips max is and I may need my demo rig for later events.....I'd rather keep it running reliable then let someone create more work for me by damaging it ;) After all thats why they have me do these events, failure is not an option live.........

Trust me man... Getting anything over 7GHz would be the thrill of a lifetime for me... Regardless of it being submittable or not. My intention is not to interfere with your demo in any way; I will be there simply because I enjoy this subzero stuff. I was thinking of maybe buying a chip/board while I'm there and making a run for it, but three hours is just not enough time to get a board ready for LN2 and then get a good run going. I learned, the hard way, that rushing only leads to dead HW; and I won't do it again. Either way... I'll be there to watch you overclock your chips and to try to learn a bit from you as well. :D If you need any assistance (pouring LN2, etc) let me know... ;)

I have conformal.....and eraser.....show up early and I can help you prep your board, it dries quick.....perfect for events where you need to be up and running reliably quick in case of a failed board.

Maybe I can work something in for a quick validation with you on your setup.

Non Rma able afterwards though.

My flight got rescheduled, I should be there at 2pm....

United States xXSebaSXx says:

I'll try to make it there as early as possible. Have three classes to teach during the day; I'll see if I can re-schedule them to leave me more time in the afternoon, but I can't make promises.

United States hokiealumnus says:

Dude, play hookie. You have an offer from one of the best AMD clockers ever to help you prep and attempt a validation! :p

submit for leeghoofd plz...

Trust me hokie... I'm really debating this... I moved my schedule around so I may be able to get there at about 4:00 PM... Now I just have to think about the financial part. Money is tight now and spending $500 or $600 just to see if I can get a validation seems a bit irresponsible. Who knows; I may say to hell with it and go for it.

:D

UPDATE:

The event was great. I got to the location at about 4 PM, but there were only a couple AMD folk present at the store. I asked about Brian and they told me that he would be arriving soon. I went looking in the store and they did not have any FX8150s or CVF boards in stock. So much for having a go at it! :D

*Chew and the rest of the AMD crew showed up a little before 6 PM. When I met him and we got to talking he told me that someone had forgotten to bring a dewar and that they had had to go looking for one right before the event. They found a 10L unit. Bought it, filled it and also bought and filled ten 1L thermoses... Son in the end they only had 20L of LN2 available for the event.... Again; so much for having a go at it! :D

I will say one thing... What a great guy this cat is man... He was so nice to everyone and so willing to share with the audience what/how he was doing. I spent the whole three hours standing next to the rig watching him do his thing and talking to him about OCing and benching. Tons of fun were had for sure.

And lastly... there were prizes. I won Gigabyte HD6570 OC, some guys walked out of there with A3850s and a few guys walked out of there with FX8120s.

Very nice event overall.

Here was one of the highlights,

I didn't save the final run which was 7230 but i saved this......

Score is a tad low but i was using custom 1920x1080 to simulate Xtreme preset as that the only preset that I would even bother running on BD ;)
