CPU-Z: Change in validation checks for very high overclocking

More security added to CPU-Z's online validation system.

Just a note to tell you I just changed some steps of the internal validation check. Now, to get your dump validated, you need a clean frequency over time ("time" is, of course, not an hour but 2-3 seconds max.). This was added in order to reject all dumps where the CPU was throttling or unable to keep its rated frequency more than some milliseconds. Some guys spammed the validation key as long as needed to get a result "validated". We don't think a quarter second frequency might be called a "validated overclocking", so I added that check.

This issue is mainly affecting AMD K10 CPU (Intel doesn't seems to be concerned). No problem found so far with the Bulldozer OC Contest currently in progress.

PS : many bogus dumps were removed from world records.

Bulldowzzzer OC contest? ohhhh they must be spamming the server.

Belgium Massman says:

Not sure what this Bulldozer OC Contest is about. I checked the webz, but no info I could find.

United States Hondacity says:

i wonder if they're using liquid helium... :D

TaPaKaH says:

it's a "who can leak the highest freq and get away with it" contest ... so far OBR is in the lead with 6.49 :D

NoMS says:

Bulldozer OC Contest? Interesting...:P

Slovenia tiborrr says:

Well, that's funny, my old 890FX couldn't do a clean validation even at stock, let alone at 6.7GHz.

South Africa Vivi says:

who can leak the highest freq, rofl!

Colombia saint19 says:

Can somebody tell me in other words what this means?

1. somebody is overclocking bulldowzer
2. franck thinks his validation process needed an upgrade. and has blocked alot of amd records.

my opinion, we better start using another validation program.

Belgium Massman says:

There's simply no alternative software that provides the same perks as CPU-Z. CPU-Z is - easy to use - small program - lots of info - easy validation mechanism - mostly up-to-date

Belgium Massman says:

Technically, yes. But the CPU-Z SDK (needed to create these apps) is licensed.

United States Hondacity says:

lol too fast

Colombia saint19 says:

Why no create our own validation program? I mean here are a lot of system and electronics engineering and many software developments that can help us in the process.

Yes. Go ahead. Pay them if you feel like you need software other than CPUZ for it.

lol, maybe not.

Norway knopflerbruce says:

Let's see how this works out... it'll probably limit the overclocks a tiny bit, but not too much I hope.

United States NoGuru says:

So is it two or three seconds, because that makes a big difference?

If you want toi validate 8.3ghz CPUZ, then those seconds are important. But if this doesnt mean full load for 2-3 seconds I guess I'll survive:D

I Agree, BLCK 216 x23 on 950 i can get easy, but BLCK 218 will be more difficult at 3 secs. Im on air.

Be great if they added the ROG CPU-Z pic instead of the stock one, if your running the ROG version

Poland G.Foyle says:

It doesn't say anything about Bulldozer overclocking anywhere - says it's mainly affecting K10 cpus (Bulldozer is family 15h, not 10h). To me it looks like "Bulldozer OC Contest currently in progress" is a contest where people overclock their K10 rigs to win a Bulldozer.

That sounds logic but it's contradictory to the initial statement that claims that K10 is mainly affected.

United Kingdom El Gappo says:

Wouldn't go getting your panties in a twist about this. OCN have a license and have asked for this not to be implemented :)

Colombia saint19 says:

Is not possible modify the specification field? Intel shows the stock speed while AMD don't do that.

United Kingdom El Gappo says:

Maybe, will add to the list. That's the first build, plenty of stuff to be added :)

Belgium Massman says:

Ocn-z ?

TaPaKaH says:

what don't you like about regular CPU-Z that you must have your own version of it ? e-peen factor ?

We needed something to spit out system info straight to OCN for another project, cpu-z was an obvious choice :)

Massman said: Ocn-z ?

lol yup.
