could you have possibly found a harder mod lol :D

Australia T_M says:

Actually if someone can find any points connected to those two legs they will work. The core on the right in the picture simply had none that i could find in the 15mins i probed for, the traces just seem to bury very quickly into the PCB and must resurface somwhere else I couldn't find. Similar to the core on the left, but before the traces disappeared into the PCB they had two nice little probe points to solder onto :)

Australia Dinos22 says:

yeah fair enough

that is some seriously nice modding goingon with those legs dude

Sad news :( Looks like my card didnt survive last night's attempted LN2 session. While mounting up the tiny IC leg mod shortcircuited (even with hot glue all over it) probably due to being rested on foam, so I had to pull apart and re-do the soldering. Seems I botched it up this time (too much heating the IC? Cant see any bridging and the there's no short circuit) so now the card has zero volts on post.

United States Hondacity says:

what iron temperature did you use? type of solder with lead? try putting nail polish after soldering..."just in case of possible short"

Australia T_M says:

I really thought the hot glue would have been enough, but when we are talking about <1 millimeter i guess you can never be too careful! Wish i could repair this fuck up. Iron i think is 25W fine tip and just regular solder

United States Hondacity says:

did the hotglue shift?

Australia T_M says:

Nope not at all, ran it on air a few hours the previous night with no problems.
But when trying to run LN2 I have to lay the card down horizontally using a PCI-E extension. The card was rested on soft foam and thats when i think i knowcked off the soldering. But thats not what has caused teh card failure - its my attempts to resolder that did it.

United States Hondacity says:

ah got it 6inch pcie extension? mine is arriving tomorrow.. yey :D

United States G H Z says:

Im late but did you check the back of the card for alternate mod points? Similar to 4870 and 280 GTX?

Australia T_M says:

In that area there is literally no componentry that i could check on the back of the card. No i didnt check connectivity with every point on the card, just in the local areas around teh ICs and general area.
