HWBOT Team Cup 2012 – Kicks Off June 1

Following the spirit of the HWBOT Country Cup-series, on June 1st we’re kicking off our first HWBOT Team Cup competition. Similar to the Country Cup, the Team Cup is all about group effort and joining forces. Only, this time, you’ll be competing for the glory of your team!
The HWBOT Team Cup 2012 features 6 different sub-competitions, each focusing on different hardware and benchmarks and runs for a period of 3 months (June-July-August). More than enough time to gather the troops and aim for the highest spot! Good luck!
The Format
The Cup is, as previously mentioned, divided into 6 sub-competitions. For each sub-competition, you can gather points based on the team’s final position in the sub-competition. In the end, the team with the most points wins the competition … it’s as simple as that! Similar to last year’s Country Cup, there are three different sub-competition levels:
- Level 1: 13 stages, 3 months.
- Level 2: 7 stages, 1.5 months.
- Level 3: 5 stages, 1 month.
The point distribution is as follows:
- Stage points (all levels): 25-18-16-15-14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
Update:: due to the level of complexity, we have changed the format for the overall Team Cup ranking. The ranking of the 2012 competition is based on the points you gather in each sub-contest. For a level 1 competition, this means you can gather as much as 325pts if you are 1st in all stages of that competition. Those 325pts will all count for your Team Cup ranking.

Ah, so all stages end t the end date, then :) That's cool. I was afraid i'd lose a stage or three if i went on a one week holiday abroad during summer:D

About the 'GeForce History Tour' Stage, would it be alright if a certain card cannot run all the 3d03 test because of API/DirectX limitation? (e.g Geforce256, GeForce 2MX and 4 MX cannot run all test, probably only GT1 since they only have DX7 level support-cmiiw)

Is obligatory enter in all stages? Or we can only enter in those that we have hardware.
Not obligatory to enter in all.
Check with your team mates to see who has what hardware :).

Next question: Disable cores isn't allowed but what about enable cores? X2 555 to X3 and X4 and 960T to X6?
Are Xeon equivalents to the Core 2 Duo/Quad chips allowed?

I would think it's allowed, since we already do that for pcmark05. Now if the system allows it is a different story. I remember the last time we did an event like this there was an issue with submitting certain cpu's that could be unlocked and then the ones that unlock weren't able to be submitted. For example, we couldn't submit a 555 as an x3, the system would only allow you to do it as an x2. I think it was for the country cup, but i'm not sure.
I assume is it single core, not single card for the gpu?
Single core just means no dual gpu cards .

wondering if cpus branded pentium instead of core2duo are ok??? Could be wrong but not sure there is any core2duo cpus in the 5xxx family those are all pentium, and the wolfdale e6xxx cpus?????
All of those should be OK I think (noticed the same thing). No reason why that shouldn't be the case, as the naming scheme is kidna fucked up for the 2000 and 5000 categories, which are both labeled pentium and not core 2 duo:D (the 1000 and 3000 series are both labeled Celeron, too - 4000 is fine)

I vote for NON-banning engineering samples. This competition is hard enough even without banning them. GF IGP means destkop solutions only?
I don't care either way, but it's not mentioned anywhere and I've asked a couple of time already. We should clear this up before people buy engineering samples to participate, and then refer to the rules when we say they can't use them...
In post 10 of this thread massman confirmed that ES are NOT allowed. I agree the rules should say it, as not everyone will read all the comments.
Yeah. As already mentioned before, no ES in this competition.
